Is the NO.6 in this Josh Schuster?

I think there have been some powerful 5/8's with Wally and Filipaina ect....thing is if he has the agility to play in the halves, his size is only a bonus, so is not a problem.
The fact he has the size and ability to play in the forwards is also good, as depending on the halves options at the time....a roving lock taking on both sides of the ruck adds extra threats.

Get with the times fellas ..... we have 6'5 and 110kg wingers ..... every position is getting bigger and the difference between forwards and backs is becoming negligable ....

Within a couple of years you won't get a look in at 5/8 unless you are built like a brick outhouse and can defend the edge ....

PSS .. Unless they reduce the # of interchanges ... then ignore what I just said....

This HIA rule is being exploited so that we are now having Claytons Interchanges, replacing players without forfeiting an interchange.
No matter where a player is hurt that's a head knock!

He is going to keep growing and will more than likely wind up in the backrow. Essentially, he is a backrower but at junior level, his skill set is under-utilised on the edges. That won't be the case in FG where the playing field levels out a bit.

He is an SBW clone...got all the skills but in the body of a forward. He is champion person with a great attitude too, so that bodes well for a bright future. We are going to have our work cut out trying to keep him though. He has one more year left on his Manly deal but the other clubs are already making their enquiries.

I would imagine he’d be a priority signing for the club @Snake along with Ben and Hopoate? Although i agree it will be difficult to keep each of them.

Well the Dogs lost Thurston and the Cows lost Ponga but I think both those clubs were coming off premiership years. We’ve just come 2nd last so have absolutely no excuse for losing any of our budding young champions.

problem with players like Josh is someone will come along and try to change his whole game. what for? the kids been watching Dan Carter and kicking the ball at the park since he was 5 has vision and hands that cant be taught so why in gods name would you put him at second row or lock? Josh left eels because they only played him at prop when he was playing fullback and 5/8 for Mounties so that might not be a good idea.

ITs not about someone changing his game or where he wants to play, it’s to do with body shapes and size. There is a reason why nearly every half in the competition is built like a half, just the same as there is a reason fullbacks are lean muscle and hookers are stumpy. Fullbacks cover the most km’s so they tend to be fit with very little body fat. Hookers have to get down low in the middle of the park and chop the forwards down so they tend to be stocky shapes. Halves have to run around directing play and tend to be leaner for that reason. Asking a big body to float around is not practical for their game. They can be more destructive using shorter bursts of energy. It gets harder to carry a big body in FG. That’s why SBW played backrow even though he was more skilful than most other players on the field...the guy used to hit RTS with cut out passes all the time. Josh can be skilful on an edge.

Josh left Eels because they were playing him at prop?Where did you get that info?Josh is from out west but has never been contracted to Eels,he started with our Matthews side and we had him at prop to begin with.He then was moved into the second row and Brett Fulton experimented with him at 5/8 last year.He may have been in the Parra district footy comp but never contracted to Eels, maybe a scholarship or something as a tacker....
