Is Luke brooks the piece we’ve been missing

Undefeated in finals 👏👏👏

Lets hope he wins his first 4 finals appearances 😁
Very gutsy again in defence today. He doesn't take a backward step (even if does get knocked back a few steps taking the big blokes front on 🙂). And the pass to DCE - beautiful. Took the line on well. No Finals nerves for him. Was great to see.

Taking a run in the first set of the game was a good move. Probably deliberate and a great nerve settler.

I actually think Brooks has fitted in better than we could have hoped. It would have been completely acceptable for him to a quiet and/or up and down year as he finds his feet at a new club in one of the most crucial positions on the field. Instead, he’s been a top 3 contributor across the season. I only have DCE and maybe Brown as the other two most influential performers this year. Sure, Talau has exceeded expectation and there’s those great moments from Hoppa. But across the course of the year, Brooks has been one of our best and most consistent.
Our only player to start in every game this season.

Unfortunately for him, and for us, it's 3 years too late. Anyway let's enjoy him whilst we can.
Disagree... Brooks' defence the last season or so is leaps-and-bounds better than it was early doors...

He has lost none of his ball-playing ability and any loss of speed off-the-mark is more than offset by his gained experience...

Personally I would not have signed him 3 years ago but reckon he is a great addition to our squad this season...

The other point I would make @The Insomniac is that with regards to how many years Luke has left in FG (which I assume was your main point?), he has had very few injuries and no major injuries over his career (to my knowledge) which offers 2 considerable advantages...
1. His durability - particularly to a squad with multiple recurring injuries in a rather fragile spine and backline (DCE excepted)
2. His career length - similar to Chez, he seems to still be enjoying his footy and his lack of injuries and desire to play more finals may see him play on for a longer period of time than your average NRL player...

Just my thoughts...

And you're entitled to them Frank. Well written.

Been playing good consistent footy for the majority of the season , bit of a downer against the Sharks and Tigers recently but the side struggling in general with those games .
Maybe just running back into the ruck a bit too often in recent times , maybe a bit more show and go type running and his smart footwork with a bit more room to move wider more the go but spread attack still one of Manly "s stronger plays so the focus probably still on this primarily at 6 .
Showing plenty of resolve in defence and more often then not , doing well with some deft passing.
Not sure what the Roosters will do with their 6 option but sure if Brooksy is on his game , can trouble any opposition option there
Kicking game a definite asset as well

Expect the Roosters back rowers and centres to run at Brooks all day on the weekend.
I hope Lawton and Ben T can help him out, otherwise we will have troubles.

Then again, every other decent team just runs towards Garrick to score.

Hopefully too many options for the Roosters 😆

Stepping off the right foot and running back into the ruck is important, even when it yields no results. It keeps the defence guessing and will often be the catalyst for holding up the defence later in the game, for the ball to then go out the back to Tom, who is then outside the defender that ‘holds’ on Brooks, for fear that he’ll show and go.

That could or should serve a purpose if that is the intended plan .
More to suggest that he seems to do more damage just a bit wider of the ruck area and in a bit more open space as once he runs directly back into the ruck area , much harder to split the defensive line .
Like most nimble runners , seems to step well off both feet [ and sure that you are well aware of this ] but also sure that opposition sides are getting a bit more alert with his smart footwork .
Every game is different and every defensive line is naturally not the same either but again Brooks best individual running seems more suited not directly running back into the ruck
However again also , take your point on any follow up attacking intentions

I just KNOW that you got a little bit excited by Brooksy's no-looker to Chez for the scrum-play try on Sunday @XV-1 😄
