Is a good loss a thing?

Game was over after 20 minutes.

I'm not spinning that as a positive, and I hope the coach isn't either.

I thought at 16 nil we were still a chance because they aren't much good and certainly not a 80 minute side. 22-0 I knew was a bridge too far.

They are no better than we are, I think we are the 3rd and 4th best teams in the comp. Neither side are any hope of troubling a full strength Storm or Riff. But we both need to hang in there you never know when opportunity will knock.

Their effort the previous week against Melbourne was every bit as bad as our first half last night.

I think our starting props are a large part of the issue and have been for 3 seasons.

it is if your SeiDUD!!

Another loss and SieDud waffles on about how PROUD he is of the boys!

Hellooooooo!!!!

we were pathetic , got blown off the park in another big game and wee down 22-0 before we knew it

- 2 weeks in a row we have been slow to start , that is on the coach!!!

- Roosters put the cue in the rack and we got lucky with 3 intercepts

- all the ball on there line in the second half and all we could do was shuffle it predictable side to side and pass it to Tom where he stopped before the line many times

- Somehow we have a chance to win the game with 4 mins to go

- we put a bomb up and not one player try’s to contest it or catch the bloody thing and the roosters get the ball easily

- final set and we have a chance to win the game and we can’t even get to a kick with a playmaker where at the very least we could put up a bomb for Tom or someone to try and contest a catch and maybe score…. but nah… we just stuff around as usual headless and the game is over

Honestly, another inept pathetic performance where we went missing in a big game with the top 4 on the line.

22-0 after 20min and the game was over!!

you can’t blame injuries or the ref as that is not the reason this game was a DUD!

You can blame the coach and the players who didn’t show up and the duds that wouldn’t crack first grade in bush league!

but don’t worry tho……

Seibs is PROUD!

That wasn't a good loss. The first 20 min our defence up the middle and out wide was a disgrace. Z grade stuff. At 22-0 the rorters took the foot off. 2nd half we had all the ball in their half and could only score off lucky intercepts. We created nothing in attack , Tom was shut down and DCE was running in circles.

There wasn’t much good about it. We were not in the contest really and the score flatered us as a result of the intercepts. Whilst our completion rate was good our attack was average and our first half defence diabolical. I felt we were always just hanging on. I cannot for the life of me see the sense in grubber kicking the ball into touch on the last when you are a long way behind. IMO it’s a negative play. It was looking like a carve up at 22 nil but the boys showed some ticker and stopped the rot.

It was a good comeback against a really good Roosters team.
I'd like to have the ref's 10m ruled upon by a Bunnings representative, as it looked a bit skinny at times.
Roosters first half defence was a good reminder to Manly that swarming defence is effective.
Note to Burbo: please check you're wearing your boots on the correct feet. 😉
(BTW. I truly believe he's learning & just had a difficult task & combined with an off night)
Nathan Brown tries with all he's got & I bet he knows who should be chosen in the forwards each week.
Hopefully, Manly to re-group & comeback stronger.
Go Manly!

Manly players very rarely put their bodies on the line. They are all on massive contracts and want to keep their value up and they can’t do that if they sit injured in the bench.

Yet, look at teams like Storm, Riff they leave everyone else behind for that reason, and I’d say those two will dominate grand finals for a few years yet.

Des and Ricky have their teams playing with a fair bit of heart as well and they are building towards something.

And we know manly do their best work when they are allowed to play pretty. Rarely do we see a plan B. Whilst we get run down regularly how many games do manly win when they are required to graft and come from behind against committed opposition? You only have to look at our loses this year. Almost every team from 16th to 8th has beaten us. We just don’t have the consistency or commitment to be top tier

I think I just watched a good loss.
I am really proud of how the boys responded to the early first half blitz.
Full strength we win.
Last time I remember a good loss was when Melbourne beat us in 2008 at Brookvale. We all know how that season panned out. I'm not saying we will win this year, but I think we should appreciate how well we responded.
yeah but the 2008 storm side would win the current comp. The chooks got schooled by a worse storm side last week. If manly this year were good enough we should have belted the chooks.

I think Aloiai picking up a cork was a big factor in why we got so torched up the middle. Once Brown and Bullemor came on we looked a lot better.

A lot of things didn't go our way last night, I'm not going to start slitting my wrists over it though. I think once we get Olakau'atu, Koula and Hoppa back we are going to be a lot better.

If Lodge comes back from his biceps injury looking like he did before his ACL, then our pack will be scary good.

I'm happy that we scrapped in the 2nd half but like you guys said it wasn't a good performance that first half was very average waddell and burbo on that left edge in defence was a big error they ran riot with there speed .
Happy that we came back and we will definitely be alot better with haumole back and a 2 week freshen up. Keen to see what we can do in the next few rounds.

I remember being in Melbourne in 2013 at the game for the 10-10 extra time draw (not a loss, not a win but never gave up). Last night like that.

The first 15 minutes wasn’t good and took a bit to get into the grind, the Rorters slowed the ruck down all night and Klown let them get away with it which hurt the attacking shape.

Impressed with the resilience and Gordy played very well, this game could make him into a better player.

Guaca back will help along with Koula next game, Jake and DCE will get a much needed break.
Also Lodge, after the Raiders game if required.

It was a terrible loss it showed us exactly where we are….with the rest of the average teams competing for spots 3rd to 8th.

The Roosters are ****, a good team (Storm & Panthers) would have withstood the early onslaught and put them away easily in the 2nd half.

The first 20min by the Roosters was finals intensity football so it was good for us to gauge were we need to be ( a long way off ) The other good part was our fight back even if it was lucky, they put the cue in the rack don't care we showed some grit and not the first time this year stayed In the contest
