DCE seems to have an issue with everyone, the qld'ers certianly think he's toxic.
The problem isn’t DCE. He’s a good player.
The problem has come from over-investing in a single player. It means you then are forced to under-invest elsewhere.
Green leaving and salary cap sanctions are proof of this imbalance. Our ‘ten million dollar man’ has done well for himself but it hasn’t done well for the club and it’s not his fault. It’s the owners fault not to have faith in developing unknowns (which ironically they are now forced to do with Croker).
Oh God ..Would swap a DCE / Crocker combo for a Carney / Hastings combo in a heart beat then you'd just have to decide where to spend the additional Mil we'd have freed up on strengthening the side.

Suggest you watch a few old games of the Cowboys then, Thurston was struggling until he got a second half in Morgan. We backed the wrong horse. However damage was done once he forced out gifty the culture was shot. Never seen a million dollar player need a 6 to hold his hand.
He had it easy pass it to snake, Matai or lyon while watching choc go forward on one leg broken rib.
As to the ten million dollar man comment, what do you think these players are on?
Smith
Cronk
Thurston
Tedesco
And a lot more who were part of the recent “ big trade year”.
As the salary cap goes up a million will be standard for very good 1/6/7/9 players.
Don’t forget Taumalolo.. Multi year $1M+ contract. We might be a basket case atm but the Cowboys have their full team including Scott and Thurston back and can’t buy a win atm.
And do you honestly believe he would ever consider that @HoldenV8 ? No way in the world...I don't blame Cherry for the size of his contract, he's just the beneficiary and that sort of security is something that most players dream of. I blame the events leading up to it (we all know the story so not going to rehash it here) and his manager who knowing we were over a barrel potentially losing both Cherry AND Foran, milked it for all it was worth.
But yes, the reality is that for the duration of his contract we are somewhat hamstrung with regards to our salary cap position, made worse by the fact that right now we are being forced by the NRL to operate at around $660k less than everyone else.
Its something we're just going to have to live with unless someone can convince him (or he decides to himself which is unlikely) to take a pay cut for the greater good.
