Smart Club operators plan ahead feathered friend and have the capacity to have things under control
Imagine 12 months ago if Mestrov and Co gave DCE an ultimate and sorted things out instead of fart arsing around and dragging this sage to round 4 .
It seems our club leaders are followers and are not proactive but reactive
and that is not smart leadership .
Sorry Bozo but I think your way off the mark here.. your blindly biased by your anti Seibold and Mestrov dribble that you have been sprucing for the last 3 years.
DCE is our club captain and at the "end" of his career, management have always said there is a spot for him for as long as he wants to play on, and both DCE and his management knew this.
So even if Manly offered a year contract then it was always going to be up to DCE to then ask for another year and so on.
Now you will say this is madness why not just give him 2 or even 3 years but by giving him 1 year deals it meant that they could also be future planning for players in other areas under the cap.
The club has invested in a couple of talented junior to eventually succeed DCE and DCE had always been in the plans to help bring on those juniors. Again DCE knew this.
So you are totally incorrect in saying the club had no future planning in place.
The club had every right to think that DCE would return some of the loyalty the club has shown him for 16 seasons, they didn't need to jump up and get him to sign a contract, they like many on here thought DCE is Manly through and through and he would do the best thing by the club, either retire or play on and left it to his terms.
The NRL have valued him at $400k under the cap.. so even as Rothfield mentioned Manly have always had money set aside for DCE. Even if it was $700/$800 k this would only cost us $400k on the cap..a no.brainer, so they sat and waited on DCE. But DCE wasn't rushing on to sign any deals was he.
It was even reported that when DCE broke the news that this took everyone at Manly by suprise. Why..
Because I suspect DCE has been lying about his intentions.
Unfortunately playing on for a club that has looked after him for the last 16 years isn't much to DCE, He always intended to play on and he will possibly for another 3 or 4 years
Yes.. 3 or 4 and he's already agreed to terms with another club.. 100%.. look at how he's speaking now that the news is out.
Truth of the matter here is simple
DCE wants the $$$$$ .. $800k and 2 years.. that's not good enough..never was.
If Dylan Brown can get $1.3mil then what am I worth would have been front and centre in his mind...
He's already well into negotiations on a 2 year deal with a thitd year option for $1mil a year..mark my words..
Ive always supported him.. but i can't find any reason to support him and his actions atm.
He told the club in December "im either retiring or going overseas" yeah right.. that was until the Knights paid 1.3mil for Dylan Brown
