How to F a season in one go

If you’re not a fan of rumours, innuendo, scuttlebutt etc, strap yourselves in,because it’s about to get bumpy. They’ll be stories about a riff between DCE and coach(already 1 started by Buzz because Seibold wasn’t invited to his wedding😂),stories about a players riff, stories of potentially other players leaving and stories of how all of how much $$ Manly have available to spend on a replacement which will fluctuate between how much said journo thinks DCE was on or was offered(which was anywhere between $800K-$1.2 m,according to the media’s inaccurate reporting)

Well after the shock waves are over in next few days. It'll be time for the NRL team to grow up and have a real good crack at winning the GF this year. Because it'll be their only chance for a few years.

Also Arthur's and Walsh have free reign to work their buts off to get the gig next year.

If all works out could potentially be a long term blessing. Especially if DCE shows the young guys the ropes.
Yes, every player has to call ‘Time, gentlemen’ at some point. Remember the messy situation around the time of Cliff Lyons’ retirement? Craig Field had crashed and burned and Cliffy came out of ‘contingency reserve’ (aka semi-retirement) to dig us out of trouble in early 1999.

This time around, the succession planning looks more solid.

Imagine however, about 12 months ago, if DCE had publicly stated he was leaving at the end of 2025? We might still have Jamie Humphreys on our books.

Smart Club operators plan ahead feathered friend and have the capacity to have things under control

Imagine 12 months ago if Mestrov and Co gave DCE an ultimate and sorted things out instead of fart arsing around and dragging this sage to round 4 .

It seems our club leaders are followers and are not proactive but reactive
and that is not smart leadership .

If DCE has any decency he will come out and say as this year is my last year in Maroon and White I want to give it my all and stand down from Origin.

To go off on another 6 week mid season mind and body draining escapade then it’s just rubbing salt in the wounds

That would be nice and a normal senior player might do that and put the club and team first .. DCE already said last night that he loves origin and wants to play this year.

Sorry Bozo but I think your way off the mark here.. your blindly biased by your anti Seibold and Mestrov dribble that you have been sprucing for the last 3 years.
DCE is our club captain and at the "end" of his career, management have always said there is a spot for him for as long as he wants to play on, and both DCE and his management knew this.
So even if Manly offered a year contract then it was always going to be up to DCE to then ask for another year and so on.
Now you will say this is madness why not just give him 2 or even 3 years but by giving him 1 year deals it meant that they could also be future planning for players in other areas under the cap.
The club has invested in a couple of talented junior to eventually succeed DCE and DCE had always been in the plans to help bring on those juniors. Again DCE knew this.
So you are totally incorrect in saying the club had no future planning in place.
The club had every right to think that DCE would return some of the loyalty the club has shown him for 16 seasons, they didn't need to jump up and get him to sign a contract, they like many on here thought DCE is Manly through and through and he would do the best thing by the club, either retire or play on and left it to his terms.
The NRL have valued him at $400k under the cap.. so even as Rothfield mentioned Manly have always had money set aside for DCE. Even if it was $700/$800 k this would only cost us $400k on the cap..a no.brainer, so they sat and waited on DCE. But DCE wasn't rushing on to sign any deals was he.
It was even reported that when DCE broke the news that this took everyone at Manly by suprise. Why..
Because I suspect DCE has been lying about his intentions.
Unfortunately playing on for a club that has looked after him for the last 16 years isn't much to DCE, He always intended to play on and he will possibly for another 3 or 4 years
Yes.. 3 or 4 and he's already agreed to terms with another club.. 100%.. look at how he's speaking now that the news is out.
Truth of the matter here is simple
DCE wants the $$$$$ .. $800k and 2 years.. that's not good enough..never was.
If Dylan Brown can get $1.3mil then what am I worth would have been front and centre in his mind...
He's already well into negotiations on a 2 year deal with a thitd year option for $1mil a year..mark my words..
Ive always supported him.. but i can't find any reason to support him and his actions atm.

He told the club in December "im either retiring or going overseas" yeah right.. that was until the Knights paid 1.3mil for Dylan Brown

If Mestrov and Co had any smarts they would have closed this case a long time ago
But instead they let it drag on and on up until round 3 and frustrated DCE ., Inflamed the Media and broke the fans and clubs spirit . This is the impact that This Manly Management decision is having for all who have eyes that can see
Mestrov failed to close the deal and the contract case form turning into a chaotic mess
Manly management are accountable for the way they conducted this contract .

Shades of 2011 when everyone took pay cuts to stay together but Lil Princess threw his toys out the cot and wanted more. Goodbye DCE. Thanks for always looking out for yourself only.
The club had the right idea wanting to keep Foran and let DCE walk back in 2015, but by then the damage was already done.

Ever since that crazy million dollar contract we've had a great halfback and a side that can't win finals matches.

Siebolds biggest test yet id think. It will go one of two ways.
A. They’ll galvanize and have a real dig this season all putting in for dces last hurrah
B. The circus will derail the season, playing group will be fractured and we’ll struggle for wins all year.

Likely option is B as I feel this will drag. Thankfully we already have 2 wins. Judging by the performance of some other teams, that may already be enough to avoid the spoon lol

Thank you for you post feathered friend
I am not biased against anyone
I say it as I see and in the last 3 years we have all seen nothing Master Class / Over achievements from Seibold or Mestrov .

We agree that DCE wanted what he was Worth and as a rare and Elite half he earned that and was entitled to it
Mestrov did not Value his Worth and the most detrimental act of his was he did not act promptly and shut down this case but he let it drag on long enough to create this Manly Drama
We will agree to disagree
Have a Good day

As Terry said above, it just makes losing Humphreys so much worse now. He could have been starting 9 and then transitioned to 7 next season.
Could he be lured back? Not that I’m advocating it as I’m not sold on him. But honestly it’s the nrl anything is possible.

We all know the answer to that Wheel and it ain’t in the clubs favor. There’s a shade of maroon dce favors and it ain’t the one he wears week to week.

He will be free to negotiate come November if the Vermin don’t try and extend him.

Their problem will be the Dodd contract, extending Walker and the recent signing of Cheese must have them under salary cap pressure without giving Humphreys more coin.

Mate even the staunchest dce supporters are agreeing this smells like s$&@ at his end. I’m a fan and wanted him to stay (not ruling out he won’t yet given his past behaviors) but the way this has rolled out is ordinary. Not saying the club are without sone level of fault here, but the way he’s conducted himself so far seems pretty poor.

What I gather is mostly from what he said tonight and reading between the lines. If DCE told the club in December he wasn’t playing on with the club after this season why would they make him a priority target??? 🎯

I think the cap space created will enable us to build the team more effectively? As I said we have cover in Arthur with young ones on the way up (similar to when DCE started back in 2011). He has failed to deliver another premiership after that and to be fair the past 10 years have arguably been our worst in terms of performance (making Finals/GrandFinals/Premierships) since the 1940s believe it or not.

Anyway he is gone to either Phins or Chickens - he has tarnished his legacy despite the 300 plus games
Arthur is nowhere near NRL standard.
