definitely, otherwise no point in scoring them.

Hockey is a big stats game so a goalie doesn't want his save percentage affected by goals that are scored when he (or she) isn't even between the pipes.

So tonight 4-1.

the guys who score the empty net goals still get goals added to their stats.


Dallas goalie's stats (save percentage) are 29 saves on 31 shots = 93.5% (let 2 goals in) - or 0.935 they like to say.

If they (unfairly) counted the 2 empty net goals it changes to: 87.87% - or 0.878.

And really, if a goalies save percentage is under 0.90 (90%) then people think it's crap.

So you can see why it shouldn't be included (goalie isn't even there) and how much it can effect the save percentage.
