Hicks was better than Monaghan. Monas played his best football in hooker but was an average halfback. Monaghan was both liked and hated in equal measure. He would have been the whipping boy of the current team

There are similarities between Monas and DCE right now, both have been playing without a decent 5/8 for a big chunk of time and got rushed/pressured into poor decisions.

Ox was luckier and had Lyon in peak form outside him. Give him Walker, Harris etc and he would have found things a lot tougher as well.

I was adamant when signing Ox we would never win the premiership without a decent 5/8 and we needed to focus more on that. I was right.
