Hayne Killing it

Hayne's playing but got off to a horror start. Dropping his first NFL touch - a punt - for a turnover.

"At half-time Hayne’s statistics were: two rushes for four yards, one catch for seven yards, one return for no gain and one fumble."

Into the third quarter "Bruce Ellington was brought in to return the punt (perhaps an indication Hayne has been asked to focus on back-up running back duties)" - Reggie Bush got injured and is out of the rest of the game, making Hayne the backup RB.

San Francisco continued to have its way with the Vikings defence, reeling off another long drive which included a strong nine-yard run up the middle from Hayne. But penalties stalled the march towards the endzone and the 49ers’ settled for a 30-yard field goal to take their lead to 10-0.

This is the future for the NRL if they don't control the broadcasters.
Hours of ads 😡 no continuity of the play - bludger of a game to watch after the speed of League

The only good thing is the jerseys - no sponsors hijacking the Club identity 🙂

Hayne has realized his dream :clap:

I see Dugan is talking about getting on the NFL bandwagon, or is it a gravy train ??

Haha yeah I dunno about that. I've been to a few games and its good and there are fireworks but its not like its a huge rivalry...

Been to a san fran NFL game two years while in the states. Had a good atmosphere, sell out crowd and great stadium, but wasn't double that of state of origin or better than the GF I went to in 2008 by any means!!
Game goes for 4 hrs so its longggg, with plenty of stoppages but I find it way better to watch than the baseball. Fell to sleep attending a yankees game at yankee stadium. My god that was boring. best part was when they rev the crowd up during an innings change and you get some weirdos doing their own entertainment they play on the big screen! The build up to the NFL is pretty big, everyone hangs out before the game in the car park with their big trucks drinking budweiser. The crowd was a lot rougher and make a lot more noise at the NFL game. A few fights in the car park too ha

Been looking for something to have a punt on over the summer and have decided nfl will be it. Watched 4 games this week, only way I can watch them though is fast forwarding through all the rubbish and just watch the play, just over an hour to watch

Cracks me up the way they carry on after making a tackle

If you want a punt tip - college football + multis.

This is how you do it:

1. Find the Saturday morning block of games (look for games all starting around the same time)
2. Find 4-5 short favourites (don't go margin - just go head 2 head and cop the shorter odds) and multi them up into a palatable div. Don't go stupid though with like a 10 leg job. Throw some money down.
3. All games finish around the same time. If you get up then...
4. There will be another block of games starting for the arvo. Bank your initial wager and repeat.
5. Sunday morning & arvo do the same.

Look for 1.40ish odds and combine them. There aren't usually a ton of upsets, especially if you are getting a home team. Just go and read a quick preview for each game and if you can, cross check the game against American odds (you can do this on ESPN.com). You can do quite well out of this as there are sooooo many games each weekend.

Cheers mate. I found a website last week called nflpickwatch, where they have 150 experts picks all on the 1 screen and chucked into a percentage, and I went the 6 hottest favourites into a multi. Got 5/6 in, bloody Seahawks let me down !

Stats in today's AFR reveal the time in play in various football codes. It claims:
NFL = 11 minutes (60 minute match)
Rugby = 35 min (80 min)
League = 50 min (80 min)
Soccer = 58 (90 min)
NRL takes four hours to complete. And I thought our sports were stop-start!

You got it KE. Been watching NFL for many decades and the fast forward button is your only friend. The Super Bowl is the exception as getting beers and nibbles in the breaks is a priority.

Had my first go round of my "system" today (for the new season). Success!
