Have we gone forwards, backwards or just the same this year?

Two steps forward and then two steps back means no real progression. We didn't win games that we should have won this year (other than Souths round 1 when we were robbed) as a result of very poor performances. I know it is said that coaches don't go out there and win the games but we had a significant brains trust in the coaching ranks this year and I am underwhelmed by our performance in finishing 12th. We have become good at making excuses for lack of results and you can sugar coat it all your like its still a sh t sandwich. I'm all for opportunism but I hope its not another 12 years before we win another grand final. Another gand final appearance is not even on the radar at the moment other than in the eyes of our owner and CEO who are IMO dreaming.

If we are purely stats driven
Last year - 1st 42pts, us 20pts ( 10 behind 8th ), last 10pts -105 f/a
This year - 1st 42pts, us 29pts (3 behind 8th ), last 14pts -6 f/a

We "won" the pre-season cup and are closer to 1st and 8th than we were to last in another Turboless season although he did play 4 more games this year.

I'd say there's more cause for optimism after this season than 2022, the team looks happier and with three of the engine room missing we finished off reasonably well..ish.
At least we saw some debutants and others dropped or benched....
Looking forward to what a freed up Brooks can bring.
