The NRL is being run by Accountants and Lawyers which is fine, they have their place (and I am an Accountant, but actually have a personality), but should never be in positions as CEO's or running organisations. They are too negative and conservative. And this to me sums up the NRL currently. They are so terrified of the legal stoushes in America over NFL that they are making sure they have covered themselves over 20 times more than necessary. Plus rarely are those types visionary. Instead the are incredibly reactionary (sound familiar?? Oh Gallen hits Myles.....let's ban punching).
The game is tough, brutal, we love it and you know what...so do the PLAYERS!!!! Why do we have to cater to Mrs Smith so that her boys will play rugby league? Not every child in Australia has to play Rugby League. You know what I have a son, and I'll be happy if he doesn't play.....but I still want to watch rugby league!
Dan your comments about touch are spot on. We are desperately wanting every family in Australia to play rugby league, but by doing so are changing the fundamentals of it.
