I guess we will see if Jake has the opportunity to demonstrate his former skill levels as a lock under the new coaches.
I hope so .
It was sad to see jakes skill set diminish under Des coaching style
He can still be a skillful hard hitting prop

I would like to see him grow a beard get a tattoo on his neck and forearms and be a bit more disliked than liked by opposition players

The Virile Vaega is Viagra on the Wing

Three tries in last years pre season game
and two more tries in last nights pre season game
The serial try scorer is a serious contender for a NRL wing spot
Ving, as they say in deutschland

Pretty good hit out for the reggies / fringe players.

All the fringe guys, Toff, Bully, Condon, Tippytoes looked good.

Was surprised with Johns, I was skeptical about his signing but he was the best player for us and I think he's a decent backup for the halves.

The two centres both looked good, the injury to Myers was unfortunate as he was really causing some issues for them down our left hand side, NRL potential if he can put on 8-10kg without affecting his speed...dare I say he reminded me in glimpses of Killer....

Toby was impressive given he normally plays half. A few silly errors but he'll learn. Looks to have potential as at least a 14 down the track.

All in all, I thought Souths played more guys closer to an NRL start than we did and we handled them and played well.

Yep. And even though it was only reggies/fringe players in a trial, a win has gottta lift morale after how last year ended. Add some confidence and faith in what the new coaches are doing.
I'm glad we play another very strong club next trial, we'll have a fair idea what's what.

From what I saw from Samuela Fainu I believe he could be an elite lock. Has the skills, footwork, and engine to play in the middle. Reminds me a bit of Joseph Tapine.

Very excited to see him debut this hear

Only just saw the game, not a bad first up start.
Thought Toby was actually outstanding, yes he should not have left the ground for a couple of takes but that is natural preservation for a small guy. That **** is easily fixed by the coaching staff, the work in attack was very impressive.
Thought Tuipulotu actually had a very good game, wingers getting left high and dry when the inside is overlapped are on a hiding to nothing, apart from that he was really good and unless Vaega looks for the ball a bit more I would still pick him over Ray at the moment.
Ferris had some good moments and looks like a potential upgrade on Harper(Myers has pure class without a doubt).
Young Wilson at half had a really good game, missed a bad tackle at the end which all halves do but the rest was impressive for a 20 year old.
Good defence, took on the line and some good vision about getting the ball to the right people, really good kicking game.He and Johns both switched from each side during the game and he deferred to the senior half as happens.
GCKT was good and will get better, would not swap him for Croker yet but definitely a chance for the bench.
Bullemor has obviously put the weight back on and was good all game, took it up strongly as a first option and came in well after a quick play the ball, definitely a middle.
Johns,Sipley,Condon,Fainu,Fifita,Fulton all look great as everyone has mentioned and good to see a bit of mungo in Ben T and size, did a good job on the right and looked ok at centre on the left later on.
Good start,bring on next week.

Here here....agree with your summation of Myers. Looked like someone with a ton of potential and I'm always looking for good defensive centres and he just might be the answer, albeit early days. I know one thing, you can't win a comp with nuffy centres regardless of your spine.

He is faster than Jake ?
Jake is no benchmark for speed and agility

He is a better defender than the Elite Tom ?
Not from what I have seen

He'll Maybe Make a Good second rower and lock ?
There are other more prominent forwards that cover our back row NRL spots

The Maybe is that Maybe this season he can show a bit more than what we have seen

What I saw of Burbo in earlier matches with his brother Turbo was that though he wasn't matching speed in some open field running he wasn't far behind, similar to a fit Schuster. Jake isn't that quick. As for defense I doubt that Turbo could handle the defensive responsibilities of a second rower. Maybe if he was trained for the position he would develop but at fullback he has little defensive requirements. Burbo is basically being trained as a back rower and what we've seen is he's a good defender. So I stand by what I said. He's faster than Jake from what I've seen (rarely seen Jake keep up with speedy backs) and he's a better defender than Turbo (because he's trained in a position that requires an enhancement of that skill). What I was pointing out was that comments were suggesting he wasn't as good as Turbo in some areas and not as good as Jake in others. I was turning the argument around and pointing out that the same argument can be used on his behalf that he has skills his brothers individually aren't as good at.

hought Tuipulotu actually had a very good game,
I agree, aside from getting held up over the line, he'd usually score that one.
Vaega was also strong but gave away a very poor penalty at an important time, inexperience showed.
