I'll be honest, I take your opinions with a grain of salt. I recall you telling us that you didn't even bother watching a game we played a few weeks ago (might have been Canberra or Dolphins). You're passionate enough to criticise and poke holes in the club at every turn, yet are not passionate enough to watch us when the going is tough (is coming 7th and only losing one game by more than 6 points really that bad?)

I didn't watch last night. I am ABSOLUTELY not watching our club gift The Broncos a free win at Suncorp next week (our home game - cop THAT season ticket holders, but a few extra $$$ for Penn though). I'm glad you take my opinions with a grain of salt, means you're not a psycho, because end of the day, it's a footy forum. Tbh, until today, and our correspondence, I actually didn't even notice you posting??? But great to meet you anyways.

Yeah, I absolutely got sick of that run, and needed a break. Footies supposed to be entertainment, and at that stage, for whatever reason (like many funnily enough) the drive just want there for me.

And yes, I criticize and poke holes. That's who I am. You're not enlightening anyone by saying it. It's been 10 years straight we've finished on average 10th. I'm sorry if you consider that worthy of celebration - I on the otherhand, think that's reason to pick holes and/or criticize.

I guess it is how you look at things. None of us are managing/coaching the team and we do not know the salary cap situation - we can only guess. I too get disappointed after a loss (even some recent wins) however love the club and will always support them.

Back to Simpkins. Without knowing Croker's condition (and it must be worse than we know) the club have acted proactively. This I applaud. And while it would be a hell of a lot sexier to have a Grant, Egan, Robson, Api - they aren't available or affordable for us. I do not know Simpkins as a player well enough to comment however as some have said "at least he is a hooker". I want him to succeed 100%.

Comments about "we must promote Humphrey" or "GCKT is the future" is also based on potential we believe BUT they just aren't showing it. I have been too a few lower grade games and they are not killing it. I am of the same opinion as a few other posters, as much as I would love Gordie to be the next big thing I haven't seen evidence of this apart from a couple of good runs.

Its a business and like most competitors in business player managers attempt to dominate the market place. The trouble is they do not only have players as clients but coaches as well. Coaches have a say in recruitment and that creates a serious potential conflict of interest and additionally puts clubs under pressure if one manger handles a large component of their squad and additionally their coach. The NRL need to stop managers handling both players and coaches. Clubs need to be wary of who manages their potential coach candidates and how that may affect their future retention and recruitment. .

An extension of our core strategy to sign multiple makeshift or fringe hookers and hope that through weight of numbers surely one of them makes a decent fist of it. We're certainly due. Let's hope this is the time we catch lightning in a bottle. It hasn't been a great strategy ever since we released Api and old mate went along for a night out at the church fete.
