Meanwhile, the Wests Tigers are on the verge of parting ways with hooker Jake Simpkin. The 22-year-old is on a deal worth around $400,000 this year but the Tigers are in discussions with the Manly Sea Eagles about an immediate exit.

The sticking point remains how many years the Sea Eagles are willing to offer him beyond the end of this season.

His manager, Isaac Moses, is in discussion with Manly about him joining the club as early as this week and could be included in the Sea Eagles team list to play against the Panthers at BlueBet Stadium on Sunday.

Simpkin was brought to the Tigers from Queensland under the Maguire regime but has since fallen out of favour. The talented dummy half will be brought to the Sea Eagles as depth to cover for Lachlan Croker (head/neck injury). Croker hasn’t played for the Sea Eagles since round nine against the Canberra Raiders.

Honestly don’t mind what I’ve seen from Simpkin in the past and he’s actually a hooker which is nice. He may just need a fresh start like Talau did so I’ll hold off any judgement until he actually plays for us

But it’s pretty sad for us as a club that the only players we can sign are rejects from the worst club in the comp and/or those managed by Moses. So concerned about Tartak having too much control at the club (who actually has the good talent) and yet now we have more Moses players than we ever did with Tartak. Mestrov/Seibold are full of sh1t

Any details you come across on Croker? I did read something about an internal ear issue, it didn’t go into details about the severity though.

I’ve only heard what most have,but unfortunately it has varied from concussion to ear issue to neck.Given the club has been very vague with their information,I’d suggest it’s probably worse than we think.The Humphries experiment seems to have gone on the back burner for the time being and Lawton is either prone to an injury anytime or a dip in form and GCKT is only new to first grade.Simpkin must be the best option they can get at this short a time(and the fact he’s a Moses client)

Like I said in another thread, I have never been more disillusioned with where we are heading with our club that what I am now. I know where Ryan is coming from. Something just doesn't feel right . Like Ryan and a lot of others on here have been through the tough and hard times and we have fought our way out of it but our recruitment and retention is the worst it has ever been. Like someone previously said, we our going for quick fixes and that doesnt always work, am I right Ryan, it just doesnt feel good, once again, thats my take on this. There once a time when a good player wanted to come to Manly, it doesnt seem the case now

People are unhappy with recruitment yet on a shoestring budget Tommy Talau looks awesome, Luke Brooks has been good and Nathan Brown has been strong when available.

I'll pass judement when and if Simpkin runs out on the field

Not saying he’s a good/bad signing,but using the line “can’t crack first grade” isn’t going to cut it when the bloke in front of him is arguably the best no.9 in the comp,despite no Origin selection
