Doesn’t look like a punch from that footage

I know I come across as a smart arse earlier, however, I saw that footage live amd it looked like a fan taking a photo, probbaly mouthing off and Will Chambers over reacting to what was said.

It wouldnt surprise me in the least if the fan said something tender and will threw the punch. Cant have Will being at fault a week out from finals.

Wankfest has had 4 pitch invaders this year, media term not mine.
Far more dangerous than anything that happened tonight.
Though the bloke shouldn't have done it, and the bad look it gives us, it is really not as reported.

I was nearby when this happened. I tried to take some video on my phone but missed hitting record and was watching the security take-down too closely to notice my phone wasn’t recording. Noob.

What I saw:

1. Chambers gets sent for 10 after the high tackle and punch up.
2. Staff pull the tunnel across the pathway to allow Chambers to exit the field.
3. Some charged-up fans baying for blood take the chance to run down to the tunnel and “rattle the cage” as Chambers passed. A bit stupid, but no more dangerous than fans at any other ground shouting as a disgraced player heads to the sin-bin. I did not see this guy get his hand inside the tunnel but I’ve now seen the footage. The clowns were trying to intimidate Chambers (too little too late for that game). In the heat of the moment this bloke has taken it a step too far and was genuinely shocked when things escalated. Chambers responded angrily and turned to have a go at someone who had got his attention, obviously the bloke at the centre of this all.
4. Next thing I hear a commotion as 3-4 security guards take the guy in a hold and move him through the tunnel to the side where I was watching.
5. The security guys hold him (upright) and ask him to calm down. He calmly replies and after he is told something I couldn’t hear by security, he continually repeats “are you serious?” He seemed pretty calm but became more upset, remorseful and shattered as he realised he was going to be arrested.
6. At one point a security guy explains to him that the punter had been retaliating and the punter says that he retaliated when he was taken by the neck by security. They relaxed the hold a bit when they assessed he was not out of control but in fact was quite calm.
7. Within 30-60 seconds 2 police arrive and security explain their decision. The cops handcuff the guy who is now in shock, and escort him out.

Storm in a teacup in my opinion. It’s going to result in a change to tunnel procedures at Brookvale and we’ll probably all need to use the stairs to pass that part of the ground for the whole game from now on in my summation.

Those in the security industry might have insight into how this was handled. Not knowing exactly what happened with the phone-punch, it seemed like they were heavy handed and I expected the guy to be let go once they saw he was in control of himself.

There were others who videoed it and were actually closer than me.

He had the phone in his right hand and the Jim Beam Mixer in the left - was never going to release either to throw a punch
