Match Stats

A great match for us and for the NRL. After so many mismatches, blow-outs and inept performances two genuine heavyweights came together and slugged it out from the first moment to the last. Even the new contact rules couldn't ruin it.
High intensity rugby league for most of the game and luckily the sin bin actually didn't effect the outcome at all.

Well as far as I thought we were going to finish on around 16 points at end of year, I’m glad I was wrong. After 4 rounds we were not looking good but along comes Turbo and things changed very quickly. Many of our players just went to another level today and confidence sky rocketed. What a strange day full of emotion.
I was just glad we had the Bulldogs and Broncos there to keep us on at least 6 points

What an emotional, physical, monumental game. I'm so proud of how this team is coming along. What a controlled and gritty performance by our boys. It was a vintage Des Hasler grinding win. I love every minute. We notched the aggression and physicality to another level that just bullied them all game. Then we defended our hearts out, with 12 men for at least 20 minutes of the game. And still only conceded a flukey flick pass try. We proved ourselves today and this is just the early stages of our season revival. This was the proving game, that we are on the same level as these top teams. Got a long way to go. But that was for u Bozo, we will miss u but we will continue this charge dedicated for you. Go Manly.

Too right and that tommy t tackle when we were down to 12 was huge. Holding them out that close then almost scoring twice really showed them we were up for it and one step above

The best thing about this win is the fact that Parramatta turned up. We genuinely beat them...it wasn’t as if they were flat and we caught them on a bad day. They had a ton of possessions but we just defended incredibly and were strategic and skilful in attack. Absolutely incredible performance.
The defence was unbelievable. The hits were coming through the ground mics. Some of Jakes, Keppies, and Harpers hits were brilliant. Jake went after Nathan Brown, and got the better of him all game.

This is pure gold

I am not long home from attending the game which is just a 20 minute walk from my apartment.

I arrived at the ground and learned about the news of the passing of our immortal Bozo and I felt emotion remembering what he meant to our club and his legacy.

When you play at Parramatta you know that you are not only playing that team, you are in a constant battle with their crowd who intimidate referees and their privileged players get away with niggling and inciting like I saw today from our ex player Gutherson.

The game started off well for the team and we scored a fine try on our left edge. We let them back into the game with an error and they took full toll with a good try to our ex player.

It was a tight match and our goal line defence was amazing especially the save from Tommy when their guy had to score.

Another great try down the left restored the lead and crucially on half time a great piece of vision from young Schuster put Garrick away and a great pick up by Parker ensured a fantastic try.

The 2nd half the team were methodical, blunting the Whingers attack and reducing some of their players like our ex player trying to ref the game.

What I loved from Manly today was our intensity. We buried them all over the park, gave them no peace, got in their faces, forced them into errors and every time we shifted left we gave them a problem.

What a composed effort and who would have imagined this after the first four games of the season?

A massive team effort with everyone contributing. Special mention to Schuster who showed what we have to look forward to with his soft hands putting guys into gaps, Three try assists too. Tommy Turbo worried them all game and he was there to again score a great try and make another one.

The forwards were colossal today, no one took a backward step and our mindset was first class.

It was an emotional day. I got home and realised what today meant to our club and the tribute that the boys showed to Bozo and his family was great.

It is days like this why you appreciate what Manly means to us and the passing of a legend meant that our club culture stood tall while our opponents were found wanting.

This team has so much improvement in them and it all goes well to know that we are only beginning to fire as a team.

I feel very proud of what I saw today and being a resident of Parramatta is even better when your team SMASHES the Whinging worms on their own patch!!!

I was just looking at some highlights (again)

Unless the rules state otherwise, I think Jake was hard done by in his sin binning.

didn't grab at clint, ever, yet clint grabbed jake twice and then dived.

Jake was in front and is allowed to run his own line (not a kick so no escort.)

The play wasn't right nect to them so I dunno about 'illegal blocking' - is that a thing?

SO ..justified or not? Probably... I dunno. burp

go Manly!
