SEA EAGLES: DYLAN WALKER FACES MORE SURGERY

SEA Eagles star Dylan Walker faces further surgery and could miss the first two rounds of next season’s NRL season.
The dynamic back, who was named Dally Centre of the Year on Wednesday night, went under the knife on Monday after dislocating his ankle and breaking his leg while playing for the Prime Minister’s XIII against Papua New Guinea.
And Sea Eagles doctor Luke Inman has revealed that
Walker also has to have an off-season shoulder reconstruction operation.
“He was actually meant to undergo that on Tuesday,” Dr Inman said.
“Basically he can’t really use crutches after he’s had a shoulder operation,” leading sports physician Dr Inman said
“So we’ve had to wait a bit of time and that is the real drama.’
“Dylan’s shoulder rehab will be delayed by six weeks due to his ankle fracture,” said sports physician Dr Inman.
He said that rehab will be approximately five or six months,
And he said an injury to both the upper body and the lower body does impact on a player’s fitness program.
“Assuming that the kick off time next season is March 10 2018, that’s 24 weeks away,” Dr Inman said.
“Dylan’s expected return to play time at present is 26 weeks minimum, so that’s possibly two weeks over.”
The setbacks came after Walker enjoyed a stand out season with Manly culminating in his Dally M win.
Manly coach Trent Barrett said: “It was a great effort from Dylan. He had a terrific season and I thought he was out and out the best centre all year.”
Barrett said Walker was shattered about his injury setbacks.
“He’s not going to have too much fun over the break,” he said.
