Draw for rest of season

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news (reality?)… but…

We will likely be 4 points at least out of the 8 in a fortnight because the teams around us (who, barring Raiders, all have better F/A) have VERY winnable games…

RAIDERS (Tigpies W, Storm L)
COWS (Tits r22 W, Broncs L, Bye)
SHARKS (Bunnies W/L, Tits W)
BUNNIES (Sharks W/L, Dragons W)
KNIGHTS (Dolphins W, Bulldogs W)
EELS (Dragons W, Broncs L)

We have likely losses to Rorters and Riff so Table at end of r24 is likely (at best if Broncs beat cows and eels)…
RAIDERS 30
SOUTHS 30 (I am giving them the Sharks game)
COWS 30
KNIGHTS 29
—Top 8 cut off—

SHARKS 28
EELS 26
MANLY 25

In the last 3 rounds, EELS and BUNNIES have a bye each and every other team mentioned (barring Cows) has a least one game against a team lower than Manly on the table…

Yes we should win our last 2 games against the tigpies and the dogs but, (despite a couple of gritty wins the last couple of weeks) we are where we deserve to be and (barring a win against the rorters this week or monsoonal rain and a miracle against the riff) our season will be over before we suit up against the Warriors with 3 rounds to go…

Personally I can’t see us beating the Warriors either because they are playing some excellent footy atm…

Add 2023 to the scrap heap with the rest of the last decade and let’s hope Brooksy adds something in 2024…

It’s a very tall ask. The only thing I’d say is you can’t predict any results in this comp when it comes to some of these teams. Sharks and Raiders are pretty shot. Knights have a great draw coming home and I think will play finals if Ponga stays fit. Still enough games left for sone twists and turns.

That said based on last nights game, we at best will win 3 more and quite possibly only 1 more. Neither will be enough to play finals based on the 8 currently and what’s around us.

We need to win 4 from 5 to be any sort of realistic chance.
3 from 5 we have a very slim chance if 3 of Knights, Eels, Raiders and Sharks struggle on the run home. Basically our hopes rely on winning 2/3 vs Roosters, Penrith, Warriors and not bottling it against Dogs and Tigers. Very unlikely but not impossible yet.

Today's results just show the unpredictable nature of football. Whilst we are still a mathematical chance we need a few things to fall in our favour as well as being consistent ourselves

Hey Frankie, before we assess your post and predictions can you reveal what position you are in your tipping comp?
Results haven’t exactly gone to script this year or even this weekend.

Quite a few good results this weekend for the eternal optimists, Sharks, Faiders, Cows and the Slime doing there bit for us
We simply have to beat the Chooks this week but a short turn around is going to be very tough away from home. If we win we could be in the 8 by the end of the weekend given some of the team's games around us. I don't think anyone thinks we can beat Penrith or the Warriors (fluking one would be fantastic) so we just have to win this week or it's academic, I reckon.

Gotta admit that I don’t even bother with tipping comps @bradza…

Can’t tip against Manly, can’t tip Storm, can’t tip rooters, can’t tip vermin etc etc…

If you think we can make it, you can get $4.50 with the TAB.

If I'm being honest, I think we will just fall short. Our F/A is in the toilet and we are just simply not good enough to beat the Pennies or Warriors who have been super impressive under Webster.

There are some positive signs there, but, lets face it, losing Tom is not something we can absorb.

That last being the least likely.

If we win all our remaining matches, we are in the 8. 🤔

I dare say winning 4 out of 5, we are in.

The ball is in our court. If we are good enough, we will make the 8.

I think 4 out of 5 is possible.

4 from 5 would be enough. For and against is only relevant where Newcastle are concerned because of the drawn match. If we get in the 8 we deserve it. If we don't then we get what we deserve too. There will always be moments where we cudda wudda shudda but the same goes for every team and over a season it evens out. We will only be making the numbers up if we make the 8 anyway, we just aren't good enough yet...

Just my luck we miss the 8 to Newcastle on f/a. And I recall sprouting after the draw that we didn’t need to worry about f/a this year. That said if Newcastle stay fit they are every chance of winning out from here. Very easy draw and 4 hone games. I think they play finals at the expense of Cronulla.

Geez - looks like all the pessimists from Woodsie's poll have all decided to contribute to this thread!
Where is the optimistic view!!!!

We've won two on the trot. We have one of the best half backs of the 21st century in career best (almost) form. We've got Jake back and FIT! Saab and Koula are starting to stretch their legs. Lodge has started well. Schuster is running the ball and making better decisions. We put in some great goal line defensive efforts on the weekend.

If we can close the season out by winning 7 of 10 games, we MAY make the 8, AND we will have really strong momenbtum leading in to the offseason with Siebold ready to step things up next year.

I don't think we win the comp or anything silly this year - but compared to the negative momentum at the end of last season, things are going well! Enjoy the ride and lack of controversy.

We always loved being 'under the radar'.... and HERE WE ARE!

4 wins we will make it definitely but can't see us beat Riff or Warriors.
3 wins we make it if Sharks win 2, Eels win 3 , Knights win 2.
