Journey Man
Did you know???
Manly's top try scorers in 2018 are Shaun Lane and Tom Trbojevic who crossed for 9 each. The last time Manly didn't have a try scorer in double figures was 1992 when Craig Hancock also scored 9 tries. Our top try scorer in 2017 was Akuila Uate with 14.
Lane is the first forward to top Manly's try scoring list for a season since Beaver scored 13 in 1999. Coincidentally, 1999 was also a joint effort at the top with Albert Torrens also scoring 13. Turbo topping the list is the 11th time our fullback has done so. Edit: its also the first time Tommy has topped the list at Manly.
Daly Cherry-Evans' season total of 164 points (8 tries, 65 goals, 2 FG) is the 23rd highest points scored in a season by a Manly player. Its also more than double his previous highest season points total of 81 from 2011. Our top point scorer last year (minor round only) was Dylan Walker with 104 (12 tries, 28 goals).
Manly scored 500 points in 2018 from 81 tries, 87 goals and 2 field goals. That is 52 points down on 2017. Last year we scored 101 tries, 77 goals and 4 field goals.
We conceded 622 points this year compared to 512 last year (minor round only, otherwise we conceded 534 in 2017).
Manly used 29 players in 2017. We used 27 last year.
2018 is the first time Manly have finished 2nd last since 1953, a break of 65 years. Edit: that's wrong, it was actually 2003.
Over 3 years, Manly's average finishing position (minor round only) under Trent Barrett is 11.33. If you take into account finishing 8th after the 2017 Finals, our average finishing position is 12th. When Barrett took over we were ranked 9th having finished there in 2015.
That's enough for now.
