DCE to announce retierment

Just rumours... but makes sense. You just look for little signs .. like DCE having Walsh place his locker between his and Brooks's. Walsh been given a full contract.
Yep, the successful luring of Walsh (assuming he really is the emerging gun people say he is) may well have included a hush hush heads-up that DCE will shortly pull the pin. Maybe ditto for Large and Zaidas?
Having said that, we all saw with Cam Smith that players on a certain level and value to their side can keep eking it out, a season at a time, with success.
I suggest Manly try to win the comp this year, would be a fitting end for DCE @:D @:)

I have not seen any signs
of retirement in DCE physical condition or on field performance
I just read between the lines

I was told today by a mate that is close friends with DCE that he will in fact announce his retierment this year.
Make of it what you want but I guess time will tell.
I wonder if that mates name is Jackson Hastings! If this is true whoever it is would not appear to be much of a mate to leak this so early….so you could post it on a forum….

This probably would give an indicator as well, of the faith he probably therefore has in Hoppa, Large, and Walsh... Good stuff.

I doubt DCE would ever hang us out to dry, he will certainly have a role at the club post-retirement. If he goes into a media role, it'll be great to finally have someone commentating who doesn't hate Manly and isn't called Dan!
The ghosts of Frank Hyde, Rex Mossop, John O’Reilly and Reg Gasnier say ‘Hi!’

So too does (the still with us) Paul Vautin and Johnny Gibbs.

Club probably can not do much more continency and replacement wise if D C E does make that call to finish this season .
just does not seem if he has made or been inclined to make that big decision yet
Apparently is still training well and normal preparation , has not made a call on his rep intentions and probably still has an open mind about his club commitments beyond 25 .
Can only imagine the almost constant grind and demands of playing top level footy but D C E does seem to manage it better then most which has to be a really good reflection on his highly professional and specialist footy approach .
Maybe will just see how he feels body and playing wise after quite a few games this season , would not be surprised at all if he opts not to play rep but playing on into next season could still be a distinct possibility
Sure that Joey Walsh is a really good prospect but would need a fairly quick learning curse to be ready for next season .
If he is ready or almost ready for N R L and at season 's end , could only be a huge bonus for the club overall .

And let’s face it, Jurbo can’t be too far away from it as well , not suggesting 2025 but reckon it will be the next couple of years.

Impressive that DCE is still at the top of his game after all these years , he probably could go another year , but I bet he’d rather go out at the top than go like some and go that year ( or two ) too long and you really start to notice the slide.

I hope DCE does go out at the Top Winning another Premiership This Year 2025
The Great DCE Deserves it
Because if he does retire
I can not see Brooks capable of leading Manly into a Grand final
The Tigers gave up on him years ago
The Proven Luai is the one that can get the job done

Only a few people would know if he is retiring this year or next.
I doubt he has told a mate first so they can spread the rumour about, the ones that would know would be his family, manager and Mastrov and he would have told them wait and see how I go up to origin, if I'm still feeling up to it I will play on in 2026 otherwise this year is it.

The way he has being playing it seems he could go around two more seasons but I would prefer him to go at the end of 2025 then play in 2026 if isn't up to it, nothing worse than being remembered as that player that went a season to long.

One thing that would see him decide this year is it would be the team winning a premiership with him leaving the game with a second premiership.

Not sure about Origin, DCE may want to pull stumps up on this, or for that matter Slater may want to try another half after being pummeled last year ?

In the end, we have done nothing since 2014.

As half-back and captain, he is a big part of that. So is overall recruitment . He is devisive with fans and his team mates, they either like him or take him with a grain of salt.

He played very well in a strong side. As a leader, marquay player there has been many amazing moments, but lacked consistency and game management.

We can worry what it will be like once he moves on, I dare say still finishing anywhere between 5th and 12th like we have the last 10 years.

I'm looking forward to hopefully more consistency and game management from a 7. So I know that when manly are beating top sides, I won't be sitting there wondering how they will turn up when playing poor teams. The 7 knows the game management required and goes about pushing the team around the park to cater for those pesky bottom of the table teams.

Our current 7 will always turn up to every game, sit at the table, and roll the dice.

You're entitled to your opinion and I can see how you've come to it, but I tend to think the '5th and 12th like we have the last 10 years' would have been 12th to 17th without him. That's what scares me the most. It's not that we'll be losing a guy that captained us to premiership glory, we'll be losing a guy that kept us competitive and away from the bottom rung of the ladder. The club's lack of premiership success involves many factors and I personally feel that DCE has been one of our constants that has allowed to remain competitive and entertained.
