I can't speak for everyone, but it definitely would for me and no doubt would for the long term supporters of any of those long established and proud clubs. The hurt that was caused from the removal of the Bunnies and the North Sydney Bears should not be repeated.

Would it? If the teams were distributed more evenly, wouldn't that lead to more fans and more investment as teams become representative of their area.
That said, the FAR more important thing is to bring in a draft system and trade window OR reward teams that develop.

The trade window gives development clubs a chance to lock up players they have developed, before the usual suspects come sniffing around a year out from the end of their contracts. Completely derailing any long term plan a team has. It will also force said teams to actually put some effort into development and improving the overall quality of players.

The admission of the Dolphins into the comp is the right move as it makes sense to reintroduce 3 teams in the population centre of South Queensland. A club in Perth in the long term for an 18 team comp also makes sense as they seem to get a fair bit of support when games are played there. Let's see how that plays out before doing anything too radical.
I agree with the trade window and even more so rewarding teams that develop and therefore having club culture strengthened with players sticking with a club. A one club player is all too rare these days, a reality of the salary cap which is one aspect I don't like about it. Would still rather have it than not though.

I wonder how much TPAs are spoiling the field? How seriously is the NRL looking to make sure clubs are paying their players fair market value rather than underpaying a player by, say, 100K Per Season which is picked up by Joey's Biffo Services paying that player 100K in a TPA deal?That's a really interesting concept for the salary cap, kind of like a variation on the US draft system from season to season. Personally I'm a bit on the fence with anything rewarding a bad season and disadvantaging a good one in any way.
The salary cap is far from perfect, but I'm not sure of a better system in terms of "fairness" for all clubs. So many factors come into play. The Warriors and Canberra are at a disadvantage due to geographical location, while the Roosters, Broncos and Titans have an advantage there for example.

Also, your point about geographical location is bang on. Giving the Warriors an extra, say, $1.5m Salary Cap doesn't magically move the club closer to where an Aussie player might like the club to be.
There's also a club's current or past form or believability of a club's bright future to consider. Would a player not touch the Tigers as of right now suddenly be keen as heck when there's an extra $200k thrown his way?

The objective of the salary cap is a good one - to even out the competition. But as you've pointed out it should definitely be far more transparent in its execution to avoid actual misuse and the speculation that happen without having all the detail, particularly with respect to third party agreements etc.

I get your points about the history of clubs but of what benefit is the salary cap? Even out the competition? Doesn't work when you have players from struggling clubs going to good clubs for less money. Doesn't work when you have the same teams (who both have questionable cap histories) in the Roosters and/or Storm competing in/winning the GF almost every year. The NRL's salary cap auditor is an honorary member of the Roosters and the Storm's ways have been well documented AND have just had a gambling venture approved by the NRL where they don't need to declare what the players are doing / getting. What is the point of a salary cap if these sorts of things are allowed to happen?

Without the cap I'm pretty sure the club I've supported from childhood for 27 years would have ceased to exist along with several others though.
A salary cap combined with rewarding club development is achieving both needs.

I'd swap Haas for him right now. Manu is a freak, and is wasted in the centres.Amazing he re-signed happy to play centre at the Roosters for way less money

@Manly fans
Reports DCE has extended until the end of 2025, taking him to age 36. How do you lot feel about it?
I've always been a big fan of DCE and think he cops **** simply because he's well spoken but I'd like to know how Manly fans feel about the extension. Has the 8 year deal been a masterstroke?

I dont consider dce a great player. He is not like Lyon, Stewart, Matai, or Watmough but he has been a good half back for manly we just payed overs for him. Im happy with the resigning but i dont consider it a master stroke, bringing jamie lyon over was a masterstroke.
