Credit to coach

We are headed in the right direction but there is a ways to go. What the last two weeks have confirmed in my mind is that we underperformed earlier in the season against lower ranked sides and our squad is in fact good enough to make the top 4. Since the South's game in round 2 Seibold's selections have been very good and he has the squad playing for another. If we finish the season well then Seibs has earned his contract extension. I'm looking forward to the teams success over the next 6 to 9 weeks.

Not too sure how much input or influence the rest of the coaching staff have but would assume that Siebold has the majority of say and control and apart from the 2 nd Souths matchup tactics wise , looks to be mainly making the right calls and game plans .
Just to somehow tighten or get the defence to a more consistent level at times , occasional lapses or drop offs has definitely been a problem .
Then the quite astute recruiting outcomes in recent times no doubt to reflect favorably on him .
Bet like coaches previously and in the Turbo era , hope big time that he stays on the park as often as possible and in his best form

Hey I just did! And it's not dribble, you make some reasonable points.
However...!!
I don't agree with those who say Hey Seibold has coached Ok in the last few weeks! He's suddenly improved! (after finally taking on board all our tips)

I suggest it's far more likely it's just taken some time for things to come together under his regime.

Every time a club signs a new coach they never expect instant results, rugby league folklore says it will usually take time to turn things around.

Which is probably why coaches are rarely signed to one-season deals.
I don't think it's his coaching that has been the main difference and I'm not being disrespectful.
Under Des we had a core of a good squad it made the top 4 in 2021.

But what Siebs has done is added to that we 4 very good signings
Brooks, Tommy T and maddog brown were great additions to our squad.

Then the kid at hooker Simpkins I was like wtf why are we signing him. But he's been great and froggy is going to have to work to get his starting spot back.

Everyone here knows as coach I love Des and wish he hadn't of got the arse but seibs seems to like to give the younger kids a shot a bit earlier which has been refreshing.

If we can tighten our defense right up we could give this a shake but it's a big if atm.

Good point. Whatever his shortcomings as a blood and thunder style coach he does seem to be a shrewd judge of a player. As soon as he was named as Manly's coach he tried to get Flegler. That didn't happen but he's since moved on a few and brought in some, most of whom have proved at least slight upgrades. Signing some key players long-term is also good.

We're not there but are moving in the right direction.

The signings this season for Siebs have been great including the late Simpkin gamble that has paid dividends. If we manage to win this game against chooks we are a top 4 team going into our last 5 weeks after the bye. For me I just don’t see a way Croker gets back in the team if this happens, it’s unlucky but I think he is either starting or not in the team at all. The problem is his running game is weak & wouldnt add any spark against tired defences, I prefer Lawton who can fill in a lot more positions if there’s a injury.

Possibly his running game would improve if he didn’t have to play 80 mins

Let's be honest people, we've thrashed a couple of bottom 8 teams at Brookie. We still haven't achieved anything.
Hang on a minute:

RD 1 - we beat souffs in Las Vegas
RD 2 - we beat roosters at Brookie
RD 5 - we beat panthers at Brookie
RD 7 - we beat Titans away
RD 8 - we beat eels at Brookie
RD 12 - we beat storm at Brookie
RD 15 - we avenged a loss against dragons at Brookie
RD 18 - we beat Cowboys away
RD 19 - we beat Knights at Brookie
RD 20 - we beat Titans at Brookie

That’s wins over 4 current top 8 teams, 3 of whom are in the top 4.

Are you saying souffs, roosters, panthers, eels, storm & dragons were all bottom 8 teams when we played them?

Are you going to say souffs & eels having a disastrous season since we played them diminishes our wins over them at the time?

If so, will you then agree that our wins over teams who have since climbed the ladder are even better than they were at the time?

Instead of the proud statements when at 0-22 the game was over I'd rather he blow up about our poor start as well as the joke refereeing in that first 20 that caused it all. I'm sure Bennett. Bellamy, Stuart , Robinson, Cleary would've.

Considering we eventually adjusted & tightened up the gaps in our middle, stopping any further line breaks, I’d say the coach has a fair idea of what he’s doing & how to instruct the team in real time.

I think what he has done is add a more resilient mindset. He doesn't seek to blame, and in so doing sends the message to the team that the results are in their hands. The start of the game was not diabolical; rather the Roosters were red-hot (credit where credit is due).

Following that we had 2 HIA - one of which I feel we were unlucky not to have received the advantage of a sin-binning. Team adjusted again to the new circumstance, they didn't say "well it isn't our night" they still kept trying. That mindset comes from the coach

Yeah, it’s a bit rough to give it to Seibs for picking Burbo in the centres. Most have commented on how well he has played in that position numerous games. Last night will make us reassess that in the future. Great to have him cover the position when we lose someone during a game, but not starting him there when we have options.

I was furious at the momentum handed to Roosters early.
The repeat sets and late penalties gifting them field position and the commentators Roosters love fest made it worse, carrying on about Roosters making a statement and seemed blind to the fact the first 2 scoring opportunities to Manly , we cashed in both times and everyone seemed to miss the forward passes including Teddy for that opening try.
In fairness Manly need to react better as we're off the pace early, but the flow of possession at the opening of the match was hard to overcome
