..English rock band formed in London in 1976 by lead vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bassist (and later guitarist) Captain Sensible, and drummer Rat Scabies.
They were the first punk rock band from the UK to release a single, "New Rose" (1976), release an album, "Damned Damned Damned" (1977), and tour the United States.
Lineup this 40th Anniversary tour is Captain Sensible on guitar, David Vanian on vocals, as well as long time members Monty Oxy Moron, Pinch and Stu West.

The first Compact Disc I ever bought & owned was The Damned's "Machine Gun Etiquette" (Released 2 November 1979), which I still love to this day.

Saw Machine Head @ The Metro a couple of years ago and it was AWESOME.
