Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

Sieb's reminds me of past Qld Reds coaches,....old school passive, complete with leather patches on the elbows.

You'd have thought the Broncos old boys would have absolutely loved that.

But then, they had too long under Clint's body double. Most of them only remember Artie as a coach and commentator and not a player.

Hmmmm you still can't answer the question.

Just what did you expect Seibold to say??
I answered the question in my original post and then posted it again mate, go back and try and understand.

Just to help you out, the last thing he should of said is we see ourselves as a top 4 side, as I said that was a little cringe worthy, given our current circumstances, I’ve given you an answer to your question, it’s the example I’ve already given you twice, he could of answered any number of ways, but for the third time, he could of said something like ”every side wants to be a top 4 side, that’s the goal, that’s what we turn up striving to achieve.”

On a separate note, Ciro’s presser tonight, he was asked about the Dogs being the form side of the comp, he played it down and said something along the lines of no no no, we have a lot of work to do, no mention of being a top 4 side, or the form side of the comp, that’s how you keep your players grounded and willing to work harder, searching to become better. Unlike our house where the group keeps hearing their in a premiership window, they’re a top 4 side, while the fact remains we struggle to even put back to back wins together.

There were plenty of other ways Seibs could have answered the question that would have still been positive, for me, it sends the wrong message and made him look a little stupid under the circumstances. I hope that’s cleared it up for you.

Ciro is everything Siebold isn't. He is exactly what this joint needs.

Possibly bottom 4 by Monday night. Anyone want to defend that this bloke seriously cannot fuking coach. Barrett version II.
Still early days. Seasons can turn around, and we certainly can. In 2021, we looked like spoon certainties, a lot worse than we currently do. We made the Top 4, after Turbo returned. Unless Turbo gets a season ending injury I'm not writing us off.

Also, imagine if Nathan Cleary did what DCE did? That would probably affect them in the same way. Or Hughes at the Storm. This derailing would happen to probably every team.

Not sure the relevance of the Nathan Cleary reference because it didn’t happen to Penrith,it’s happened to Manly because of their incompetence in the important areas of a football club.Penrith are now run correctly so it wouldn’t happen there

It happened to Penrith with Jerome Luai last year. That was an ongoing media circus and Penrith went on to win the comp. In fact Penrith have had to deal with Chricton, Kikau, Api, Burton, Turuvs, Luai, Fisher Harris, Capewell and many others announcing they were leaving the club to play elsewhere. Penrith get on with it.

Manly fans either complain in demanding more or make excuses.

Unless things improve dramatically and quickly I can’t see Seibold coaching us in 2026. Time to move away from the model focussing on older experienced players at the twilight of their careers. The game is not rocket science notbut simply about overwhelming your opposition by doing things quickly with good execution. You run your opposition pack off their feet by playing direct and coming wave after wave. Our pack is too old and too slow to do that.

No way Penn will fork out $ to pay out another coach yet (unless he disrespects him, like des did. remember he didn't even sack Trent, Trent quit!)
And the old players aren't a model so much as a short term strategy caused by inherited cap constraints (well documented) and the need for immediate results (at least the need to show an upward trajectory).
Sadly I think we're going to have to be patient.

Think that injuries and not being able to field the best forward pack on a regular basis is definitely affecting Manly 's performance level
.Particularly losing Paseka and can have some indifferent form but Aloiai with his reasonable leg drive , can be a plus if he is on his game and relatively injury free .
No doubt a case for building pressure but still not keen on those still often one off plays on the 3 rd or even 4 th plays on some occasions .
Have both D C E and Brooks doing the clearance or attacking kicks now so should "t make much difference which side of the ruck the play goes

Not a single Manly forward in the top 50 list for offloads. Does this coach not think that offloads and 2nd phase play is important. Clueless in tactics and game plans and has been since he came here. Our whole game plan revolves around outscoring the opposition through Haumole and Turbo. While 50% of our game plan sits on the sideline the coach has no other ideas. Shows in the constant headless chook captain plays.

What was the line he had a year or so ago about “separating us from the pack” ie become a top 4 team instead of a bottom of the 8 team. That might be fine as an objective, but the problem is it is not actionable by the players. How is that meant to assist the team in getting wins? What he should be saying is something like “we need to work on the 1%ers” or “we need to structure our attacking options to take the focus of Tom” etc. Things that the team can take away and apply. How do you expect players to apply “break away from the pack”? It’s classic new age management mumbo jumbo.
More like:
"we need to cut out all of our negative play (our errors, giving away penalties, and giving away set restarts) and learn to, and really try to, tighten up our defence to stop the opposition from scoring points".

How many of these players, when picked to play by Seibold, actually get to play in their hired positions?
