Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

Blaming the coach when a few of the so called big names at the club have been playing poorly for the last four games is a cop out.

Most people in the game can see the on field leadership is a major concern for the club, the team selection is an area Seibold needs to change as a few are not performing for him..

Went alright against the then winless Eels after his announcement, but truth be told has played like 💩 since then.

As someone said in the game thread last night, he might be carrying an injury related to his back spasms in Auckland because in the past 3 week Brooks has done far more of the kicking than DCE.

Last night in the pre game show, during a pre filmed interview with Seibs, Duke asked, where Seibs sees Manly, Seibs should of known better, however he answered, we see ourselves as a top 4 side, there it is, such a crap answer, no wonder there’s issues with the sides ability to improve, produce consistency, talk about sending the wrong message.

You just can’t get ahead of yourself, it was embarrassing for starters, it breeds the wrong culture, how about, every side wants to be a top 4 side, that’s the goal, that’s what we turn up striving to achieve. How toxic is it when the coach thinks there a top 4 side and makes that kind of a statement, especially off the back of our most recent performances, ahhh makes me fuken grumpy.

There needs to be a circuit breaker for this season very soon, or we are at risk of missing the top 8.

If that means benching a high-profile player for a week for substandard performances (due to medical reasons or otherwise), then so be it.

Seibold’s excuse this week is the scheduling, ****ing sook doesn’t realise we had 4 of our first 5 games at home. Of course the one week we went away in that time we got rolled by the Warriors. Had a pretty great draw actually and here we are now with a negative record and much tougher games to come.

This clown has completely lost me after thinking we would be alright with Sipley starting and a 2 forward bench last night, just horrific team selection and coaching week after week. Don’t forget this is the same guy that got the Broncos their first and only spoon.

What pisses me off with the selections is that none of the young guys get blooded, it’s been a Manly failing for a while now not just Siebs but he is just too beige, our guys need a strong coach a Madge type for a while to harden them up, our young backs last night were all effort.

Just curious as to what you think he should have said??

Should he have said that everything is a 💩 show right now?? Or that things are toxic??

When they're doing a pre-game media interview you want to see your coach projecting a positive attitude regardless what might really be going on behind the scenes.

I actually put a version of what he could of said in the post, maybe you could re read it…….actually, I’ll put here for you……”every side wants to be a top 4 side, that’s the goal, that’s what we turn up striving to achieve.”

So rather than try to answer the question of what you think he should have said, you're just going to basically throw a tantrum like a 3 year old.

Got it.

lucky to be in bottom 8..... looking like bottom 4

The problem with Siebold is he says way too much in almost every situation. When you are being cross examined by the media give nothing away say as little as possible.Give the opposition coaches nothing. Worse still he now seems to want to justify losing . The great coaches …Gibson Bennett Bellamy gave nothing away.Any comment is always brief and to the point.
What was the line he had a year or so ago about “separating us from the pack” ie become a top 4 team instead of a bottom of the 8 team. That might be fine as an objective, but the problem is it is not actionable by the players. How is that meant to assist the team in getting wins? What he should be saying is something like “we need to work on the 1%ers” or “we need to structure our attacking options to take the focus of Tom” etc. Things that the team can take away and apply. How do you expect players to apply “break away from the pack”? It’s classic new age management mumbo jumbo.

Very good point….focus on what you need to do to achieve the outcome not the outcome.

Seibold is way out of his depth. Completely unsuited to head of a rugby league team. I couldn't be bothered listing the many many reasons why. I am embarrassed that he is our head coach, that Penn is our owner, and a d*ckhead named Cherry-Evans is our captain. Absolutely rotten leadership trio

Hmmmm you still can't answer the question.

Just what did you expect Seibold to say??
I’ll have a go;

“Just like every other team, our goal is to finish top 4 and go as far as we can in the finals. But we know what a challenge that is and it is clear only a few rounds into the season that many teams have improved and the competition is tougher than ever.

So we have no illusions, but we still believe we can achieve our objective, and that means turning up and being competitive every time we take the field. There are no easy games, so there is no room for complacency. Everyone must play their part. We have some great players, but we recognise that to take the next step, everyone needs to contribute. We need to play as a team, compete together on every play and not rely on one or two great players to get us there. We know from past experience that won’t be enough.

We have recognised where we need to improve and that’s been the focus all off-season. We need to be smarter, commit to each other and play as a team, not individuals. We need to be better at the 1%ers that are often the difference between winning and losing. The players have committed to that.

We will obviously face challenges along the way, as all teams do. We will have injuries and other setbacks. But we don’t use those as excuses, we see them as opportunities to improve - both as individuals and as a team. We welcome the challenge that setbacks provide, because we know that is how to improve, and how you reach your goals.

Manly is a club that has always aimed to win. We are ruthless in our pursuit of that objective. We don’t make excuses. We expect to win every game we play, and that is how we have approached this week, and how we will continue to approach the rest of the season.”
