Clubs agree to $9.4M Salary Cap

Finally, Clubs can budget for 2018 @

That includes a flat cap of $9.2 million,

plus a $200,000 portion of the veterans and development player's allowance, which can be spent at the club's discretion.

$100,000 car allowance at the club's discretion

Total Club grants of $12.5m for next season

If Dogs budgeted for 10 Million and it's 9.4, they haven't got to shed many have they??

The whole " this one , that one and this one as well" on the market may well be almost total BS.

Probably 1 player at worst.

by the time you add up paying part of their wage while they play elsewhere, plus replacing them in the squad with at the very minimum a 100k (think it goes up to this amount next year) min wage player it'll become more expensive than it seems.

anyone know what the cap is for this year and previous years
The salary cap will increase to $6.3 million in 2014, $6.55 million in 2015, $6.8 million by 2016 and $7 million in 2017. The minimum wage from 2013 onwards is $80,000 for the top twenty-five players.

RLPA wants it to go to 120k

Hmmm interesting. That would tie up 1/3 of the cap. I imagine players 25 to 30 will all be min wage positions.

So assuming DCE, T & J turbo and Kapow are $3.5M and then min wage for the remaining 26 are $3.1M (@120k min) it only leaves 2.8M to cover payments. Not alot.

Note TPAs not included in those calcs.

Those 4 would have large TPA components to their contract.

Nobody knows how players contracts are funded apart from the Club and NRL Auditor

Ray Dib is publicly delighted so that goes someway to telling us that the Dogs cap situation is safe under the new cap.

There was an article two days ago saying that Manly were opposed to a 9.6 cap so given this one is only 200k off that mark, I'd say Manly is hardly over the moon.

Graham will stay at Dogs now and definitely Klemmer.

Yep can't see any of them ( maybe 1 they don't want ) being released.
