Taufua as usual was a liability. He is a heartattack every time the ball goes near to him. Manly simply cannot afford to keep him - time to give young Funa a go. He is a footballer and has adequate pace
Traditionally we always seem to have one of those guys.

Let me say this about DCE. I bet if you went around and asked his teammates, out of all the #7s in the comp they'd all choose DCE. He is Manly through and through. I know that given the choice I'd choose DCE over any other #7. There are a few others 7s in the comp on just as much, if not more coin than DCE, but are not worthy to polish his boots.
Only Nathan cleary... but Dce is manly

Are you actually throwing blame on walker.... smh.... Dce made SO many wrong decisions today. Walker was great! As a fight eighth !

Edit: one could say walker needs a real halfback ;)
Oh save me baby jesus.

Answer these questions for yourself and hopefully it will clear up any confusion.

Did I say I was blaming walker for anything?

As ok as DW went today is he a specialist 5/8?

I merely mentioned that perhaps ( 50/50 each way bet ) DCE would be better with a playmaker specialist 5/8?

Whether you like it or not most decent teams will look at the manly side and rank danger and their structure.

Tommy is obviously the most dangerous. He plays off DCE and jake the most. Therefore they will be marked out of the game as much as possible.

What the rooters had last few years was cronk (dce) driving the ship around doing the 99% plays and keary and attacking 5/8.

That's what we need. DW isn't that player. Hes a world class centre. Get him back there asap.

It might only be me but I thought Croker's pass to set up DCE for the field goal was fantastic. I also agree DCE's kicking game was terrible but he stepped up when we needed him most and that's all you can ask. Our handling was a lot better than last week which makes a big difference. Turbo is on another level now he's learnt to defend. Would love seeing Funa or Anderson given a run ahead of Taufua. Just a few random thoughts on the game.

Really pleased to see the boys get the win today. The defence is clearly stronger than last year & had us in good positions in both games. The luck deserted us last week but smiled on us this week. As for the attack, those 2 teams are probably the strongest defensive sides in the comp & it's only early days. They showed they could score points last year and Cherry & Dylan just need more time together. Tom was amazing & clearly got the better of Teddy.

One of the my favourite moments was Jake's hit on someone bringing it back from either a kick off or general kick about 15-20 out from the Roosters line. His technique is near perfect and when he gets the timing right (which is most of the time), he nearly cuts the player in half.

I'd like to see a bit more from Jake with the ball in hand. A couple of years ago he looked likely to bend or break the line every hitup, now he runs about 6 metres, crumples, and takes an age to play the ball.

Our ruck speed in general is atrocious compared to last year.
Unfortunately Jake is now the lead defender with API gone. No gas for much else.

Something I used to go off about in the Barrett Era was how rubbish our wrestle was on the ground not just slowing others down but getting to our stomach and quick play of the ball. I must say I though our boys wrestle controlling the ruck speed was the best I've ever seen it today. If we have a new jujitsu coach, keep him.

Not the best game, but one HELL of a win...

just quietly, some of you peanuts are real โ€œglass half emptyโ€ types arenโ€™t yโ€™all??

Yes, everyone has a right to an opinion... And some criticism is deserved.... but itโ€™s kinda hard to swallow some of the outright nasty tripe some of you spout.

Nut up and pull a jersey on if you think you can do better. Some of these guys have played very little footy this year and are rusty. The timing and intuitive feel takes a little time for anyone, but the best part is you spend all your time sooking about the attack and forgetting that the defence has been downright unreal.... and defence is what wins games.

Didn't expect that win but VERY happy to be wrong and very happy with the two points. Sure the attack is still a bit rusty but beating the Roosters anytime is a great effort.

I also liked how on the Foxtel coverage they were switching to @wheel and family.

Some of the chat on here... it is not like we were playing the titans
Also on the DCE chat. It was clearly a gameplan re his kicking also I am interested in which half back you would replace him with?

does not seem to be many choices that are better than him.

Good to see DCE snap the field goal. I still donโ€™t understand why we kick into air all of the time. Some grubbers ingoal and repeat sets are still missing. Great win none the less.
