Centre of Excellence / & new 3,000 Seat Grandstand at Brookie – updates here on timeline?

Thought would start a thread. Now is this still all a reality?

We can pose questions on the timeline and where it is the planning & developmental stage?

It must start by early September 2020 as part of the grand plan. Get built in a 9 months timeframe? (best case?).

Some issues:
As announced 13 May 2019 “Gorman to lead Manly centre of excellence” with quotes:
Manly chairman Scott Penn said Gorman's new role needed to be free of the demands of the football operations.
"We're excited to have someone with Lyall's experience lead what is one of the most important projects and financial commitments in our club's history," he said.
"The Centre of Excellence will deliver state-of-the-art training, administration, community and multi-purpose facilities that will ensure the Sea Eagles can compete at the highest level.
"It is vital that the project is delivered on time and on budget. Lyall is perfectly positioned to deliver our goals."

The issue Lyall Gorman got a full time CEO job elsewhere 7 days later after 13/5/19 announcement!

“Evolve Housing (Evolve) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lyall Gorman as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 20 May 2019.”

So whose now driving this within Manly and where does it stand with proper drawings and developmental processes with Northern Beaches Council – still to be submitted?

Summary again:
Brookvale Oval Upgrade

In February 2019 it was announced Manly's spiritual home Lottoland (Brookvale Oval) will receive a $36.1 million facelift including a 3000-seat grandstand and centre of excellence after securing a NSW government grant. The idea is to build this Centre of Excellence at the northern end of the stadium, currently where the scoreboard and family hill situate.

The Centre of Excellence will be the first step in reviving ‘Brookie’, and would play home to Manly's football operations, coaching staff and administration. The last 20 years have been filled with fears Manly would have to relocate if the ground couldn't secure significant funds in order to give the place a new look. The new grandstand would back onto the Centre of Excellence as Manly would finally be able to leave the demountables behind and join rival NRL clubs in terms of adequate off-field facilities.

Manly will be able to choose between two locations to train, their current premises in Narrabeen, which offers three training grounds, as well as Brookvales playing surface.

The centre of excellence will also feature an “elite level gym” along with medical and rehabilitation facilities. There will also be an aquatic recovery facility, rehabilitation pools and altitude and heat training areas.

For pre-game meetings and post-game debriefs there will be a lecture theatre with meeting rooms and also player education facilities and study areas.

Currently developmental approval is before Northern Beaches Council and building could commence in 2020.

Lyall is bringing a wealth of experience from both a community and business background. This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Evolve and the Board is looking forward to working with Lyall to ensure that Evolve delivers on its remit to foster and grow thriving communities and assist those in housing stress with safe and secure housing.

As part of his transition arrangements at Manly, and with the support of the Evolve Housing Board, Lyall has agreed to provide high-level ongoing support to the club in the planning stages of their new High-Performance Centre of Excellence, with which he has been closely involved during his term at Manly”.

Can I interest you in the vision of the great one, Joe Kelly..?

Look, that was far and away the most realistic proposal for Brookvale Oval since Jane Try deeded the land to the old Warringah Shire Council. Cough...

Do not make fun of Joe’s patronising contempt for our intelligence, by putting forward his (15 minutes on the computer) cadcam vision, which flew in the face of planning guidelines, community expectations and financial realities. Okay?

I think part of the submission included extending DY to the area encompassing the high rise on Pittwater Rd. That was his plan to get that part through.

Will the proposed Centre of Excellence reduce the crowd capacity?
It looks like it will from the CGIs.
There is no way that it will add 3,000 seats.
Perhaps the CGI is old/wrong.

No, as the design reclaims airspace for the Stand and the CEO should be where the playground is outside of the fence
