Cartwright

Bulldog Ritchie was just on Triple M and said he doesn’t think that it will happen. He said there were talks around two weeks ago but due to the salary he’s currently on (around $750,000), we won’t be able to reach an agreement with the Titans.

Clearly a slow news week, 9 pages discussing a player that is not coming to play for us ..... I'm a sausage roll eating know nothing but I will bet both of my nuts that this guy is not coming our way. Not a chance that we can afford him. Please discuss away though, it is entertaining reading and I hope this thread reaches >30 pages.

Up until this sorry appeared in the media every story about manly trying to get a player also mentioned how we don't have any cap space because of the alleged breaches.

All of a sudden we are after a 800k player who seems to be an outcast at his 2nd club and the Tits are the ones looking for salary cap relief.

Hmmm if only the media could keep a consultant narrative it would make the crap they say a bit easier to believe.

On 2HD tonight at 6.10pm they had some QLD football dudes talking about this and they said that Manly would get him for $250K, rest paid by Titans and they intimated that Manly is about to go on a spree of buying some other players as well. Wonder what they know that the rest of us are in the dark with.

Upon hearing this I rang my mate who is a minor player manager and he said he was aware of at least 3 offers on the table subject to Salary cap penalties being reduced. I asked for names and why he said the penalties would be reduced - he said he wouldn't tell but watch this space over the next 3 weeks. For clarification we won't be getting all three as it all about how much we can spend.

Bryce Cartwright has talent, but he seriously needs to learn how to tackle. If he could learn how to do that he could be a handy pick up if the Titans are picking up most of the tab.

What worries me though is are we going after him for a family connection? By that I mean with the rumours that Barrett is set to head back to Penrith, are we looking at having John Cartwright as first grade coach next year?

I hope not because Cartwright is useless (Edit: just to clarify, John Cartwright is useless as a coach).

As a wise man emailed me (so no one on here then...lol)

I wonder if Cartwright did those two 'non' tackles at Manly; would the spectre of match fixing be raised?

FTR - I don't think there was anything untoward like that, just speaking on the level of 'sports journo' reporting.

Also ftr - I don't mind if he comes here.

I'll take a stab in the dark:
Brock lamb
Keegan hipgrave
Bryce Cartwright

.... you have 2 nuts ... ???

We need another half seriously! Trent is the back up and cover for injury which every club needs.

I wouldn't mind lamb. Not greatthis year but shown what he can do the year before in a wooden spoon Newcastle side. Let crocker go and sign lamb in 250k-300k.

I prefer Tom Wright to Lamb.
Think we need a bit of aggro/ toughness like a Klemmer- even Josh Jackson to add a bit of starch up front....and either Anderson if he can step up, or a Cotric style winger.
Then again, wake up I’m dreaming- we have enough to sign more fringe graders unless we win the appeal....

I prefer Tom Wright in the centres . Wright is a runner like DCE . Walker / Wright our most explosive pair

Agree but I'd pair him with BK who is developing nicely as a defensive centre and has speed to burn... Walker has played his best games this year at 5/8 imo (although I'm not convinced he has been at full fitness)

High Bryce to pay
Bryce Cartwright has been a poor signing for the Titans and his displays have been hard to watch. The Titans want to offload him.

The final straw for the club was his decision to buy a $150,000 Range Rover for his partner from a rival car dealer to that of Titans owner Rebecca Frizelle. Not a smart move in the circumstances.

Cartwright was offered to Penrith and, while they would like him, they can’t fit him into their salary cap. Cartwright has been linked to Manly, but Sea Eagles chief executive Lyall Gorman says there is no way Cartwright will join the club, despite his uncle being on the coaching staff.

Definitely a running player mate - but a step up from Lamb for me as a 5/8 also.
Tom wright has never played one nrl game at 5/8. Its a crucial position and we cannot have an untried rookie player there again next year like we did this year with crocker. Tom wright hasn't even being playing 5l8 in reggies, he has been playing centre.

I would like norman to partner dce but he would be too expensive.
