Burbo to lock?

I said awhile back…..Bully to partner Olakau’atu in the back row. Brbo offers zero to the team in the 2nd row. DCE & Olakau’atu are immense together. Brooks & Brbo are not. Brooks needs Bully to run off him. Move Brbo to the bench, Jrbo to the front row rotation.
Considering injuries to Trbo, Paseka & Aloiai I’d go….
Koula
Saab (if ankle is ok)
Garrick
Talau (due back)
Lehi
Brooks
DCE
Jrbo
Simpkin
TKO
Olakau’atu
Bully
Navale
Res: Brbo, Brown, Sipley, Patolo
It sounds like from Seibs tonight, Talau is still at least 2 weeks away. When he is back, he's going to be well and truly short of a gallop. I don't mind the idea of moving Koula to FB but I can't see Seibs moving Lehi.
I'm conflicted about Burbo but Bully is certainly pushing for a starting spot. Not sure how that would work.
Jake's value is his defence and well, coz he's Jake. But I worry about how ineffective he looks when he plays like an 8. He's just so slow.
I don't know. The fact we still seem to be asking the questions about our pack, is a concern.

Burbo is a tough watch. I can see the effort he puts in and he does put together some nice bits of play every now and then, but he’s making a bit of a habit of coming up with some costly errors or missed tackles. Whether it’s a fitness/fatigue thing or not I don’t know, but when Corey Waddell and Michael Chee Kam are the only other options in the squad then it’s probably something we’ll have to get used to. How Seibold/Mestrov and co watched last year and thought we’d be fine rolling with Burbo as starting 2nd rower I’ll never know.

We might be better off using Burbo the way Pennies used Lindsay Smith, who is similar physically (couple of years older and more physically mature now). Namely, off the bench as an energetic and reasonably mobile middle, after the tough nut genuine props have taken some sting out.

Doesn't yet have the motor to be a starting lock, but he can pass the ball so could well become a Yeo-style lock in a year or two.

Burbo played well yesterday, harsh to blame him for the miss on Hughes, many tired secondrowers would have missed him.

Really can not see Burbo ever transitioning to a 13 .
Quite a respectable game again yesterday on an edge .
Seems to have always had that problem of hanging a bit back defensively a bit wider of the ruck and not committing sufficiently or early enough especially against a more nimble opponent .
Fixable and just has to try and reduce that bit of hesitancy .
Know it is easier said then done when a bit of tiredness sets in but in the cut throat world of N R L footy , just has to do better somehow

I think ray vaega would be a better second rower would be hard to stop near the try line.
I love the Ray Man but but I don't think he has the fitness for a back rower (at the moment). On the wing he can go and have a rest after some tough runs in reserves but it's a bit hard to hide in the middle in 1st grade. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be giving him a go this week on the wing if Saab isn't playing.

Mate he is **** no use making excuses

Concede that he just generally rates on the average or just above average at times level on N R L standards but really not much else on offer right now .
Middles or lack of enough consistency and ability there , the real problem at the moment

I saw him up close the other week at Brooky.
The bloke is huge in the arse and legs. Big unit.

People here acting like he lost us the game... Watched the game live, and watched the replay, and I'm still thinking what I thought when I opened this thread on Sunday night; wtf are you all going on about?

He missed one tackle on the best player in the game, and said missed tackle was a result of a compressed, non laterally moving middle, that was our overall problem on Sunday. He also had a dodgy play the ball call that was complete BS. I thought he was fine in a game in which we were flogged, which is the most you can really ask for.

Instead, everyone on here is expecting him to be flawless, and at the same level of quality as Haumole, or just like Turbo, because of his last name? Seriously?

124 metres, 4 TB, 1 LB, and four missed tackles (only one of which led to anything). That's a solid performance. That's all we need. Waddell was the one who was rubbish on Sunday, not Ben. Of course he was gassed, they were making linebreaks literally every set.
