Strong character coaches always keep the players they want no matter the price tag on them

You have used the coaches of the two biggest TPA clubs in the NRL.

Here I was thinking that the players got millions more in under the table payments, when all along it was simply "strong character coaches".

I see Dean Pay has had his fine reduced to $15,000 with $10,000 suspended as he's a rookie coach and first offence.

Trent was in his 2nd year and i believe first offence.

Possibly. A great mate of mine is very close to Crusher. Went to lunch with them a couple of times and so I got their side of the story from Crusher's point of view, which is what I have shared with you.

I’m also good mates with Noel , I’m originally from Moree , he from Warialda , I knew all the family through footy long before he become a star.

I’m well aware of his side of the story ( which would agree with Des) but I’ve also heard first hand from others on the opposite side, and as I say I think the truth is possibly somewhere in the middle.

Fact 1) Perry was instructed by the board to rein Des in.

Fact 2) Des wasn’t happy with that and explored options elsewhere during the 2011 season.

Fact 3) Des was offered an extension but it was no where near the Bulldogs offer.

Fact 4) Penn was at war with the FC but didn’t control the board , and it was a board decision to rein in Des not Penn / ZtH.

Fact 5) The KPI story was just media bull**** ,all coaching contracts have “ requirements to be met”.

Fact 5) There’s a LOT of very very nasty emails that went on, probably from both sides.

Fact 6) Des did try and poach the entire football staff, he managed to get Noel and Kelly Egan and had Dave Warwick but not with a signed contract.

Fact 7) Perry was sacked immediately the Penn’s got control, ZtH hated him and he was amongst the first casualties.

There’s a lot more but that’s enough, I’ve seen lots of documents, proof, emails and yes I’ve heard Noel’s side but he wasn’t close to the action happening other than listening to Des.

If Hasler ever returned I think that’d do me, he ****ed us over something chronic and the enjoyment of winning a GF was destroyed following his actions.

If he returned I would withdraw my membership and have zero to do with the club.

I doubt I’d leave Silvertails but my association with the club would be over until that traitor departs!!

Greenturd was the man signing those cheques. Sure hasler was at the helm but they made 2 Grand finals and if they had have won at least 1 of those it would be a very different feeling around Belmore.

I’ve never doubted his Coaching ability, that’s never been in question!!

They made 2 grand finals and the hangover from that will probably last in excess of 5 years given that its been 3 years already. They're doing nothing this year. They won't do anything next year because they can't and the hangover will probably still be hurting the year after. No thanks!

No. I think des running the same block play structure and trying to fit square pegs into round holes shows he’s stubborn and unwilling to change. I think his talent identification is hit and miss as well. Look at lichaa. Take a really promising hooker whose strength is running then tell him not to run. Chop and change halves all year while playing the same crappy block play structure that everyone has figured out. There’s a reason they scored almost nothing in both grand finals. They didn’t look like scoring. The bulldogs were a low scoring team last year and the year before. Then go and buy woods who is the definition of a plodder and get rid of your heart and soul in graham who goes away and inspires the dragons while you’re paying half his salary. What kind of person with half a brain pays 800k for woods if you can’t afford another 14 players????

Would love to see Des given the keys to Parra after they sack the Dalai. Considering how bad they are now, he could really do a number on them.

Hasler was a strong character.

He didn't get his way. So he threw his toys out of the cot.

If he got his own way, he would have been coach at Manly in 2012.

I still think des coaching the 2008 team to win 40-0 against a team well over the cap was one of the great coaching performances of all time
