Brookvale Oval to become Lottoland

Re: Rugby League grounds naming -

The NRL grounds are:

- Lang Park (Broncos)
- Stadium Australia / Olympic Stadium / Homebush (Bulldogs)
- Belmore Sports Ground (Bulldogs)
- Willows Sports Complex / Townsville (Cowboys)
- Kogarah Park (Dragons)
- Wollongong Showground Stadium / Wollongong (Dragons)
- Parramatta Stadium (Eels)
- Newcastle International Sports Centre (Knights)
- Penrith Park (Panthers)
- Sydney Football Stadium (Rabbitohs)
- Bruce Stadium / Canberra (Raiders)
- Sydney Football Stadium (Roosters)
- Brookvale Oval (Sea Eagles)
- Melbourne Park / Edwin Flack Field (Storm)
- Shark Park / Endeavour Field / Cronulla (Sharks)
- Leichhardt Oval (Tigers)
- Campbelltown Stadium (Tigers)
- Robina Stadium / Gold Coast (Titans)
- Mt. Smart Stadium / Auckland (Warriors)

These should be used as much as possible, by all.

Commercial names for footy grounds change over time and cause confusion.

Yes, they do change but 15 out of 18 grounds that are used more than once a year have taken the corporate dollars and that's just the way it is.

Some are remembered and some aren't.
Suncorp is synonomous with Brisbane ( not just the Broncos )
AAMI has traction in Melbourne.
Who would know that there are 21 1300SMILES Dentists around the country?
Pepper Stadium is still called Penrith Park by the majority as Pirtek is Parra Stadium.
Allianz is still the SFS or Footy Stadium to many and some still call it AUSSIE Stadium and that's the marketing point, AUSSIE aren't paying anymore but still get traction.

Who knows where the hell QUDOS Bank Arena is? Or what QUDOS Bank is even? But mention ACER or ALLPHONES and most would.

Some just are $$$$ Stadium but are called by their spiritual name.

Just as long as we dont' be like the Sharks and change names every couple of years - Endeavour Field, Ronson Park, Caltex Park, Shark Park, Toyota Park, Toyota Stadium, Sharks Stadium, Remondis Stadium Southern Cross Group Stadium - but at the end of the day we still all call it Shark Park.

Brookie is Brookie to us and everyone else too, and always will be, Lottoland is money in the bank no matter how dirty it may feel.
And they've already got plenty of advertising bang for their bucks.

Hasn't Newcastle changed from Hunter Stadium to McDonald Jones Stadium? So there is another one.

I remember playing juniors for the mighty glen innes magpies in group 5 . We'd finish playing and get home quick to watch the sat afternoon League on abc . The callers were warren boland and artie beetson calling the game live from lidcombe oval, henson park and brookvale oval. Gee they were the days . Now its 1300 smiles and Lottoland, how time changes. All about the dollar.

So.......

anyone heard what the new song for Manly will be?

edit: This was a joke, just in case some of you old buggers are about to have a heart attack chanting 'eagle rock or death!!!'
If you don't remember singing ......

UP THE MIGHTY SEA GULLS
IS THE CHANT AROUND THE GROUNDS

you are just a Johnny cum lately!

I always thought the strangest one was when the Ent Cent became Qantas Credit Union Arena. If I were a trolley dolly, I'd be wondering why the hell they were spending my money on major naming rights when they had a captive clientele.

Shouldn't Parra be CUMBERLAND OVAL?

I wouldnt worry about what they call Brookvale Oval. The money people can call it Turd Park as far as I'm concerned. But supporters will call it Brookie, no matter what. Lottoland is just an advertising gimmick, that only the media and hob nobs at Manly will call it. It will always be Brookvale Oval to the faithful
