Brookvale Oval to become Lottoland

Why'd they call us Seagulls when we're obviously Sea Eagles?
There was a misinterpretation in the Club's early days, by some media types at that time, that we were the 'Seagulls'. It was never thus, however it has taken hold.

I didn't listen to Woodsie's attachment because I have heard it dozens of times before. Most notably when Frank Hyde played it before a Manly call. However I always remember the song referring to the 'Sea Eagles'.

Artistic license? Sounded better in the song? Don't know. The historians will tell you we were never officially called the Sea Gulls, and they are probably correct ..... however that version of "up the Mighty Sea Gulls" was played to my knowledge up to at least the early/mid seventies, maybe longer.
