Brisbane Double Header - Rnd 10 - Saturday 13 May 17.

With the top 8/9 teams fairly compressed this is a pretty important game to stay in touch.

Win, and we could even be top 4, lose and we could be 9th.

Not going to be easy but apart from the last two years we have a good record up here.

Next four games rare crucial for our season.

Broncos then titans followed by the bye then 2 hone games raiders and knights then our second bye. Pretty much we don't get 2/4 wins from this period the season will gone.

Minimum requirement 2/4 we need over our next 4 games

Correct me if I am wrong but Manly have a decent record at Suncorp?
I've noticed the Broncos have been getting some really favourable calls this year.
Possibly the next NRL "fairytale" is Bennet ending Broncos premiership drought.
It's got to be better the the Eels winning it, right?

Does that mean being OUR home game we will get the 50/50 penalties for breathing in the ruck?

I'll be there with my mad keen Manly fan wife, my Broncs son, 2 friends who are Broncs and 4 friends from the Northern Beaches who are all Rooters fans. WTF. Anyway I'll be at the northern end and having an early dinner at the Caxton. Go Manly.

Don't forget the faithful gathering at the LA from 3pm, at least duck in for a few minutes!!

"I'm not surprised (by how well they're doing). If you look at the names they have across the board they've always been capable," McCullough said.

"They are really starting to gel together now with the balance of the squad that they have.

"The key players they have in key positions are starting to play themselves into good form.

"They were always going to get back up to where they were. It was only a matter of time. It's taken a couple of years. They've recruited very well."

But perhaps the main reason for Manly's rapid rise isn't a new recruit, rather a household name that has come into his own in 2017.

Daly Cherry-Evans has been on fire this year, leading the competition for try assists with nine to his name.

So we're playing at home against Brisbane in Brisbane.

Makes sense.....😵 :atm::dollarsign::dollarsign::dollarsign:

Anyone remember when Lang Park looked like this and the TV camera used to be in the McAuliffe Stand (the outer side)?

It's definitely for financial reasons we've got a home game in Brisbane. Just like the Perth games against the Warriors.

Yours seems like a pretty old pic... the first time I went there I ...think was a s.o.o. game in the 1989 series (and qld won the game 36-6 or something.)

Good memory, Qld did win Game 1 of that series game 36-6 (they won Game 3 36-16....sounds farmiliar to recent years.....)

Yeah that is a pretty old pic. Lang Park remained that way until 1993. They then demolished the Frank Burke Stand and built the new stand (seen in the right of your picture). It lifted capacity from around 33k to just over 40k and saw the TV cameras and commentary box move from the outer to the members side of the ground.

You know, personally I think they could (should) fill in the top corners at Suncorp. It would up capacity to around 58-60,000 which I think would improve their chances of ever hosting the NRL Grand Final like they want to.

I liked the story that was in the paper when they built suncorp. What happened was when they did the first development they needed money. Four guys put in the big bucks and were promised 4 (or 8) seats on the 50 metre line in perpetuity.

When suncorp was being built and seats being sold (again to raise money) these guys said...'Hey we were promised these seats forever...'

To their credit, the owners of suncorp stadium kept up the previous owners word and gave them the same seats in the new stadium.

I just fully expected the new guys to go 'Nah, not going to happen...it's been 50 years.'

Anyway - I probably just cured insomnia. lol

I went to a few SOO games in the old girl, beer cans raining down and all.

Totally different viewing experience to today.

And a totally different game experience to!!

I'd like to see just one game played these days , one year in BNE the next in SYD.

It's not a patch on what it used to be.

Isn't that the new format from 2018, with 1 game to be played in Melbourne or wherever the biggest bidder is

Third game should always be in Syd or Bris with the second in a neutral place.@
