Brett Stewart may never play in the NRL again

Sayonara Snake.

It appears Brett Stewart is busy moving on with life post footy, spending an increasing amount of time at his Melbourne restaurant.

While there has been no official word from Manly - or from the superstar fullback – regarding Stewart’s retirement from the NRL, it’s well known the No.1 won’t be saddling up this year.

A chronic knee injury has prevented Stewart from joining the Sea Eagles’ pre-season training program – and he is putting his free time to good use.

The two-time grand final winner has a financial interest in Melbourne’s trendy Toko Japanese restaurant and regularly travels south to keep an eye on his interests, singing its praises on social media.

The blurb on the restaurant’s website claims: “Toko Melbourne offers diners the chance to experience the informal style of Japanese “izakaya” dining. Combined with Australia’s world renowned fresh produce and complimented (sic) by stunning contemporary design, the Toko dining experience lasts long after diners have left the restaurant.”

In other words, it’s a bloody top feed and a long way from the Manly Leagues bistro.

Gotta say, I'm pretty concerned by this. A diabetic drinking all those fruity cocktails...

Love the "sic". Let's hope Brett corrects the spelling asap.
Geez...I write for a living, and that is one true 'black spot' in my vocab. Can NEVER remember which is which (complementary or complimentary). One is to offer a compliment to someone, and the other is to signify that two things go well together. Should probably try to think up a word-association rhyme or something...

complimentary contains an "I"

"I gave someone a compliment and they liked it"

I dunno

Shame to see a legend go out this way

We just have to forget the 2016 efforts and remember the good times.

Such a pity it ended this way, but what choice did the club have, just imagine the uproar if he hadn't picked up a contract the last time one was due ??

It's only about 3 weeks now to kick off, surely they have to announce this soon?

The English rules of spelling and grammar were invented by the kids like @globaleagle who were kicked out of the Mathematics class.

There is nothing new in this article. Like a few others on here I follow (stalk) Snake on Instagram and majority of his recent posts are from his Melbourne restaurant.

I think its a safe bet that both parties are looking for an amicable payout. Manly are probably hoping for the medical retirement which seems a no brainer given that Parra got it with Choc. I guess the big difference being the NRL don't want us to succeed unlike Parra.

At guess (if I was cynical) I think they might save it for a less block buster game than the eels
