Not sure why we need a Policer Commissioner. Plenty of good candidates out there that don't have his work load.

Rugby league stars have been put on notice
The number of off field incidents (usually fuelled by alcohol) involving NRL players is way too many. I don't know how many have been mentioned in this off season thread (towards twenty?), but it is disproportionate relative to the total pool of 480 players. Also, most incidents have involved high profile players. It would seem reasonable for the NRL to introduce a stricter code of conduct for these types of incidents.

Corey Norman is facing the prospect of missing the start of the season and a fine of $20,000 after the NRL sanctioned the Dragons five-eighth for his involvement in a street fight.

The NRL on Saturday announced the St George Illawarra playmaker had been served a breach notice which alleges he brought the game into disrepute after his involvement in a fight on a Cronulla street on Friday, January 22.

PNG international James Segeyaro was also involved in the incident but is not a registered NRL player.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller personally signed off on a recommendation to block a serving officer from sitting on the board of the Cronulla Sharks, a decision the ex-director claimed was “career destroying”.

Just a day after Fuller confirmed he had been approached by Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V’landys to fill a vacancy on the commission, while still serving in his NSW Police role, it can be revealed the state’s top cop played a major role in forcing a then-serving sergeant to resign from a directorship at club level.

Glenn Gorick, a sergeant based at Sutherland who has since left NSW Police, was made to stand down as a Cronulla board member in early 2016 because it didn’t meet NSW Police’s secondary employment policy.

In documents seen by the Herald, Fuller rejected Gorick’s application to sit on the board while also serving as a member of the NSW Police Force.

lol

nrl is just so..... nrl like.

The NRL integrity unit are investigating Bulldogs player Adam Elliott’s involvement in an incident at ex-Canterbury Bankstown teammate Michael Lichaa’s home over the weekend.
The Daily Telegraph reported on Monday morning that Lichaa had been charged by police with common assault (DV), destroy or damage property (DV) and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (DV).

The 27-year old, who last year played for Cronulla-Caringbah in the Sydney Shield, was involved in an altercation in Connells Point in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Bulldogs are questioning Elliott over his presence.

Canterbury forward Adam Elliott will undertake professional help in regard to issues with alcohol after the club announced he would not be sanctioned over a recent off-field incident.

An NRL spokesman said on the evidence available, the Integrity Unit had found no breach of the NRL Rules regarding an incident involving ex-Canterbury hooker Michael Lichaa and Lichaa's partner.

He can't help it, he's just a bloody Elliott.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller will not be considered for the board of the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC).

The Commissioner was touted for the role by ARLC chairman Peter V'landys, and had the endorsement of rugby league commentator Phil Gould.

But some eyebrows were raised, with suggestions Commissioner Fuller would ultimately have a conflict of interest if a player found himself in an incident that involved police.

Fuller and the ARLC on Sunday that it would not be appropriate for the Commissioner to take the board role while still the head of NSW Police.

In a statement, the ARLC said legal advice dictated its decision to not appoint Commissioner Fuller.

lol. - can't make this stuff up.

“The man was issued a court attendance notice for drive vehicle, resident more than three months – not obtain a licence and use unregistered vehicle.”

If any of us mortals did that...fine and conviction. Doubt that'll happen to this cat.

Raiders forward Corey Horsburgh has had his driving license revoked and been slapped with a $500 fine for drink driving.
The NRL integrity unit is yet to hand down any sanction, but the Raiders forward has been told by NRL officials he can play in this weekend’s trial against the Roosters.

Horsburgh said he consumed 10 or 11 alcoholic drinks in Canberra on Christmas Eve before being pulled over in the early hours of Christmas Day after failing to indicate at a roundabout.

Taking into account the 23-year-old's remorse and early guilty plea, he imposed a criminal conviction, $500 fine and three-month driver's licence disqualification.

Fellow Raiders forward Corey Harawira-Naera is due to front court next month, having also been charged with drink-driving during the off-season.

so many blonks...so little time....

The Gold Coast Titans are facing a salary cap probe by the NRL amid revelations a payment was made to the family involved in David Fifita’s bizarre Christmas incident.

News Corp can reveal the NRL was unaware money had exchanged hands after the Gold Coast’s $3.5 million recruit was embroiled in a bizarre controversy during the Christmas break.

While the NRL Integrity Unit’s investigation has not formally concluded, it was believed Fifita would escape sanction over the incident given he was not charged by police.

However the NRL is now probing further after being made aware of a potential compensation payout.

Titans CEO Steve Mitchell could not immediately be reached for comment.

The NRL’s investigation will look into whether the money was paid by Fifita or the Titans given there are potential salary cap implications if the club has made the payment.

^ Was it Fifita who was involved with that hush money payment in Bali as well?

All these other dickheads really put the heinous crime of running down the Corso against a punter in perspective.
Yes it was Fifita in Bali. But he was with the Broncos then and of course he paid the hush money himself so nothing to see then.
