Ben

Ben T should never have been playing centre with Clayton or Parker being better options.
I like Clayton......but he needs a little more strength and conditioning. He was regularly getting driven back in tackles.

That intercept he took was pretty, as was the take from the drop out (I think it was then).

But we were losing momentum when he was returning the ball from kicks.

It will come for him, though. I hope Seibs gives him more opportunities.

True. I just think we have better options than Ben T.

Going to defend Ben's selection at centre. Not his performance because he had an absolute howler. But the fact is no-one really questioned his selection at centre when named on Tuesday. This is because he's filled in there three times and has done well there this year.

Played there against Penrith (filled in for Garrick after 20 mins), played there against Wahs and played last week against Titans after filling in for Lehi.

All three times he has done well and those have arguably been his best games of the year. Before the game, we also thought he was lining up against Stili. Great tactics by Robbo and Ben just got rinsed.

His had a good season. He has trained it seems to play in the second row. Got isolated early on playing in the centre. From what I understand despite his family name his not highly paid and gets paid to do his job which is as an interchange forward that can play back up centre if needed. The Roosters imo, outplayed us early on and losing Saab and Garrick it would have been a miracle if we won. This is by no stretch a season defining game but it’s not a good loss either as there is no such thing really unless your Penrith and have have 98% of your games and then lose one at the back end of the season only to go on and win the comp. Let’s face it this is not us.

This is where I think people get confused or carried away with players on a roster. And I'm not just specifically talking about Ben here. But people look at what players produce against lesser teams and go wow, what a player, what a star, He should be starting or sign him up he can do a job etc etc. But if we are being fair dinkum here and we wanna break this cluster and compete for a premiership, we need to be looking at these players and what they produce against the teams that are in the race. That's the only way your gonna gauge if certain player is the standard we need to improve across the park. We have to draw a line in the sand somewhere and be like ok this needs some addressing and action, and make some moves. But instead we extend players for having killer games against bottom four teams

I look at these top 4 teams compared to others, and what separates them from the rest in my opinion is their physical prowess of their individuals. All these teams packs and bench rotation are strong, physical alpha types. Even in their backs to an extent. Brown and haumole are the only 2 I think that fit that bill, with taniela an honourable mention. Our backline possess Nada. Talau maybe. I think recruitment needs to look at a type of profile moving forward

We can blame whoever we want but at the end of the day we ain’t going to be winning any premiership with Dce Tom and Jake
Dce cannot control, lead or perform consistently against the top 4 in big games
Tom is basically useless against top 4 sides
Jake does tackle but he is a hog and never breaks the line

Our 3 senior top payed players just can’t cut it consistently against top teams

We can. But probably not with what the brothers are on. Jake is our weakest link of the three in my opinion though.

Living off the family name. Not an NRL first grader. Was exposed last night again and cost us dearly. Would struggle in Blacktown Workers team.
Disagree hugely, he's not a centre ...he was our best option happy to play there. Caught out with speed off the mark a couple of times but some of his first contact defence was heavy and as an edge back rower makes plenty of great plays and definitely good enough for our first 17 imo.

I think you make an excellent point here.

We don't have many "tough" guys in general and while our backs are incredibly fast there is zero intimidation factor.

We can definitely be bullied at times and certainly were the other night for a lot of the game.

It's hard to overstate just how woeful we were in the first 15 minutes . But after that, the difference for the Roosters pretty much came down to one player: Angus Chricton. When they were under the pump, he's the one who made the big tackles and stopped us from getting over the line. He is that good, and probably at the peak of his physical powers. Without Haumole, we just don't have anyone that big, mobile and strong.
