Should Hastings be given a go as a starting half in the NRL side?

What concerns me, is we keep releasing players because they hate it here (Green), there are issues (Lussick), or the players all hate them (Hastings).

Come on now - Barrett needs to take control here.
Just to clarify a bit. Green got offered silly money for a guy past 30 and we weren’t. So if he’s going to kick stones then you’ve got to let him go (by all accounts he’s on 500-600k for 3 years and he’s still a turnstile in Defence). Lussick same deal. Offered decent money and not in our 17. We were paying him too much. Hastings has now had issues and been run out of 3 clubs. I’ve said this before but a mate that used to work at the roosters a couple of years ago reckoned he was a grade A dickhead. Lack of respect. Seems to suck up to people in the media but behind closed doors is a hard guy to get along with

I don't care if he did or didn't this just shows him up for what he is. DCE and you seem to have a very poor memory both stewarts, watmough, foran and matai couldn't stand dce and still hate him yet you know what they put the club above that and still played with him.
And do you know many people that knew or know Brett Stewart or choc personally. Cause I do. Loved them as footy players but could also be massive dickheads. Every time I’ve ever met chez he’s come across as a really nice bloke who has time for people. Every time I ever saw snake at places with mutual mates he acted like an entitled arrogant prick

Thank you, i'm so happy I didn't have to say it.

The higher I got in the footy pyramid, the more dicks were in the team.
That was 40 years and a very different world ago, I can't imagine what it's like now.

Any player that says they refuse to play with someone should be given the option to hand in there resignation effective immediately.

I'm sure we'd be happy to free up the funds, and of late there not to many worthy of keeping or worthy of keeping at there current pay rate.

Any coach weak enough to listen to the players needs to be shown the door.

The flaw in your argument is that it assumes there is no compelling reason for not wanting to play with him.
I'm certain this sort of scenario has occurred in teams before, the difference is this one is being played out in the media. In the modern game it's harder to hide stuff.
I've been a fan of Hastings - without ever meeting the bloke - but I'm now seeing the writing on the wall.

I don't know what our club's equivalent term should be, but right now Barrett needs to tell our players that they're either on the bus or off it.

We are in a difficult position recruitment wise but we simply have to stop the rot. Otherwise we will slip into mediocrity.
Slip,we have been bathing In mediocrity for a few years.

I don’t know the full extent of a way to go about things

i don’t know the full extent of the story but there’s a way to go about things and in this instance was handled very poorly
This is not his first offence at the club either, so the rumor mill suggests.

The fact that this has been allowed to brew for so long shows very poor leadership imo. Now you have a team distracted by further bull****, instead of looking inward and focusing on their performances on the field. Don't know the extent of what's being said and done but the way the team is allegedly threatening not to play with Hastings leads me to believe that he's being used as a scapegoat for their poor performances. It dissappoints me when a coach allows this to fester and affect the team morale. It is also disappointing that the players are too involved with politics, organising a coup d'etat rather than focusing on footie. It is poor culture on every level..

If ever a club needed to give a talented young half a chance to show he can cut the mustard, it is Manly with Hastings.
If it took too long to realise it won't work, that might simply be because we were so desperate to give it every chance.

Couldn't agree more, Spartan Eagle. We don't know exactly what's happened, and we probably never will, but the fact it's been allowed to happen at all shows a failure of leadership at every turn.
I feel for Hastings. Seems like he has trouble fitting in with other footy players (interestingly enough, the same criticism has often been levelled at DCE) and ends up tripping over his own feet. His career at Manly is obviously done but I hope he figures out a way to continue playing elsewhere.

Couldn't agree more. It all starts and ends in leadership, for which Baz is responsible for. The players obviously like Baz but I question his ability to toe the line. Hastings is 22. He's a kid and with the right guidance he would fit in. Pretty annoyed that the team dishes up that recent rubbish yet has the balls to tell Baz they want Hastings out.. poor.

It's the media is choosing to run with this story, not Manly. They wanted to keep it on the quiet. Cherry tried to cover it up as nothing.
We have no knowledge of the steps the club has previously put in place to help Hastings. Now our own fans are sticking up for a guy we don't know much about but has a trail of issues behind him. Add to that turning against our team, particularly DCE. There is a clear pattern of the media painting DCE in bad light. But this one bloke is in the right and the whole team is in in wrong?
I just don't get it?
But I support my team.

I think they did and look how it ended

I can tell you a fact that 2v and 3 of our leadership team from then will not even talk to each other

And one spoke to me less than 45 minutes ago over a beer and said it does not all sit with jacko

I am only saying this because I am fucn filthy and never been so disappointed in the last 4 years of bull**** with our club

Ever saw a situation where another club has had players like killer , snake , gifty And Stevie and may I add 2V not be sighted any where near the joint

I know I should not have said it because it betrays a trust that I have formed but FMD er are a basket case and a shadow of our great club who has always thrived on adversity

Now we cause it to ourselves and self destruct at all levels

Dead set dik pullers and poonces

Grow up harden up or puss off yourselves

Whether or not JACJSON is a goose does not matter

What matters is the team would have sorted that out them selves in house

Imagine BK or done one of the sane ilk saying “ I don’t want to play with him no more “

Soft fucn Cox

Never been to another site but I bet they all have a LOL MANLY

you watch in the next month we will see Barrett call DCE to the sideline and face slap him

2 or 3 of those players you mentioned also threw their toys out of the cot in the same manner and white anted when they didn't get what they wanted along with their mates.

Another case of tail wagging the dog

Players get it too easy nowadays. No wonder they get soft when everybody panders to their every whim. I don't want to play with him he doesn't respect me and I'm one of the senior playing group. I'm not playing with him because he is annoying and so it goes on. The suggestion of not fitting into the Manly Culture is pure bull****. Looks like we have another rat pack in the squad. It ruined us last time and it will this time unless it is immediately eradicated. Our response so far has the club bowing to the players demands. How embarrassing. Even more embarrassing when the players dish up what they have dished up over the last fortnight and against the Rabbits. Our playing group are behaving like prima donnas off the field and when the going gets tough on the field they turn it up. Barrett needs to stop being everybody's best friend and start kicking arse and make hard calls because that what coaches are suppose to do!
