Back to the future?

Joe was a bit like George Costanza in negotiating DCE's deal, instead of the original $1million over 3 or 4 years, we sign him up for 10 million over 8 years.
We negotiated UP, just like George negotiating DOWN.
I don't think any of us are or were privy to what was on the table under the old administration.

So that was the "lowball" offer that the new ownership put forward, not the mythical Perry one Chez "almost signed" (but didn't).

Which probably means the old offer was around 1.2 and he's one 8 years @ 1.25 now so for 50k who gives a ****.

Cherry would have signed a contract for around $1 million over 4 years before Christmas, no risk, his priority was always to stay at Manly, thereby taking all offers from other clubs out of the equation.
His new contract is for six years, plus a two year option in his favour for around $1.2 million, indexed to increases to the salary cap, a lot of money for one player, but without his signing it could have put the club behind 5 years, due to the fact that Foran went as well.
