I used to love playing the Bears. In fact John Gray kicked a conversion from the sideline aftter the fulltime bell to beat them on my wedding day!!!!

I have to admit to always feeling a bit sorry for the Bears. They were so inept.

Very true they were pathetic - my feelings are for the supporters, some who still beleive they will be back in the NRL one day - fancy going through your life never seeing your team win a premiership or make a grand final

Must have been a memorable wedding day if you can still remember the football score. :D

Norths won the premiership in 1921 and 1922 and made the grand final in 1943 where they were beaten by Newtown. You should ask the same question to Cronulla supporters.

And you were at 1943 Grand Final Tookey??

As for the Sharks their Trophy room has even less in it than the Bears room

Tookey may not have been there Wheel, but you were what 15, 16 years old back then? 8D

I can remember many a game that was tied up but the Bears so often managed to snatch Defeat from the Jaws of Victory.

97 was the last one I think!!!

And wheel would have had to watch Norths back in 1943 because Manly didn't exist then.

Maybe he can break himself away from watching the Jorgen Rogers's and Leon Yeates greatest hits DVD and look at this list of just a few of the famous Norths victories against Manly which will also refresh the memories of those who think that playing Norths was an easy 2 points each time:

Round 8 1998 North Sydney 32 vs Manly 8 North Sydney Oval

Round 14 1997 North Sydney 41 vs Manly 8 North Sydney
Oval

Round 3 1996 North Sydney 20 vs Manly 10 North Sydney
Oval

Round 1 1993 North Sydney 19 vs Manly 4 North Sydney Oval

Round 10 1992 North Sydney 24 vs Manly 10 North Sydney Oval

Semi final 1991 SF Manly 16 vs North Sydney 28 Sydney Football Stadium

Round 5 1990 Manly 2 vs North Sydney 10 Brookvale

Round 19 1989 North Sydney 14 vs Manly 12 North Sydney Oval

Round Round 25 1987 Manly 30 vs North Sydney 32
Brookvale

Round Round 23 1986 Manly 8 vs North Sydney 14 North Sydney Oval

Round Round 8 1984 Manly 12 vs North Sydney 26 Brookvale

Ropund Round 16 1982 Manly 12 vs North Sydney 31 North Sydney Oval

No way was Norths easy beats.

You don't make as many finals as they did through the 90's without knowing how to play a bit.

So since 1980 you could only come up with 12 wins??? :blaugh: .

How about looking up the Manly wins & doing a comparison?

you might be able to find some links to the Norths team on the South Sydney website Tookey, after all they are the Bunnies Reserves.

16 years actually from 1998 to 1982. 12 wins is pretty good over that period especially when you consider the number of years where Norths and Manly only played once.

Wheel I think that you should go back to MSE wheel and suggest another poll for admin to put up. Who is your favourite player? Leon Yeatman? Brett Fulton? Jorgen Rogers?

I was actually thinking of a poll - who is your favourite ex North Sydney Player;;

Don Mckinnon
Bruce Walker
Ken Irvine
Cliff Lyons
Martin Bella
Mitchell Cox
Mick Healy

The more great players come from a club the more it shows how **** the club they came from was because they didn't want to stay

That just confirms that you really do miss the bears and why Manly is not as strong as they used to be. They don't have Norths as their feeder club any more and you have to rely on your own talent scouts to find players.

Hmmm Dallas Rennie and Karl Johnston come to mind as a couple of sensational recent signings by manly. Or what about re-signing Phil Deadwood. He wouldn't even make Norths reserve grade.
