If the club really want to sign a youngster straight outta 20's to partner DCE next year, IMO they chased the wrong kid and have now missed out cos Phil Gould snatched him up for the Panthers!
If you've seen the highlight reels for both Martin and Taylor, then you would've seen that there is clear daylight between Martin and Taylor's abilities and what they have to offer at such a young age!
I don't really know or understand what all the hype and excitement is around this Taylor kid! Yeah Bennett has given him a wrap that he's ready for the step up into the NRL, but he's only a pup, in age and size, and has already had 3 shoulder recons since he was 15! He seems to be an injury prone midget?! Plus he is a genuine halfback when we are looking for a 5/8! I mean we are losing our international 5/8 are we not? So why buy a specialist halfback and shift him to 5/8? Or even worse, shift our QLD halfback in DCE to 5/8? It makes so much more sense to buy a specialist 5/8!?!
The media say we were chasing Martin but I don't believe that we ever were! I mean look at the players Manly, Bozo & Co have already chased and almost signed this year in Elgey and Cornish, they are both genuine halfbacks.
The other reason I don't think Manly were ever chasing Martin is because Bozo believes he doesn't 'fit' into the Manly structure and/or the way Manly play. Martin plays too 'off the cuff' and Benji like where as players like Elgey and Cornish both play that old school, structured style of play Manly are known for playing.
