All NRL Games [Round 1, 2025]

Agree 💯,I may have said before that JH reminds me of Foran ie tough and just a good footballer with a great all round skill set
Also as Brandy said he is big enough to play lock , which I think he would excel at
I know you’re not suggesting he is as good Foran but I think Foz has a lot more footy in him than Humphries. To me, Jamie looks solid more than a special talent. Foran’s ball playing and footy smarts throughout his career have been elite and were evident from the get go. Humphries looks composed, strong and has a decent boot on him but even at NSW Cup level, was never a special ball player.

I see Madge has 2 former Manly greats in the coach's box in Ballin and Barrett

I’ve said many times that Barrett is useless as a head coach and way out of his depth but as an assistant he is probably one of the best.
I don’t see him ever being offered a head coach role again and if he is hopefully he’s smart enough to know he is better suited to an assistant.

Yep at this stage JH is solid but nothing special.

He always has.

Read some nice comments about him from DCE and Seibold during the week, saying we wanted to keep him but couldn't and that he'd do a great job for the Bunnies. So far they have been right.
His debut game was good against the Knights last season, showed he had the ability to control a game.

From what I seen tonight he worked well with Walker, Gray and Mamouzelos, he was solid in defence and had a few good runs without threatening to break the line.

Hopefully they made the right decision with Joey Walsh.

Potentially unpopular opinion but I think we would’ve been better off with DCE retiring at the end of last year and Humphreys staying as our 7.

It wouldn’t have got us any closer to a premiership this year but would’ve set up a genuine run in a couple.

I think those hoping Joey Walsh is the answer are in la la land. He’s not played any rugby league against men and I would assume is several years off being ready. I hope I’m wrong.

I disagree, I dont see a star in Humphreys I see at best a moderate first grader but personally think more a fringie

Looking at the balance of the squad the club are short in the halves, one or two injuries away from Wakeham getting a run.

I think Humphreys has more upside than Jake Arthur as a seven, there are a few they could have moved on if the genuinely wanted to keep Humphreys is my thought.

The three quarters are stacked and I think the club missed an opportunity to shop one or two players there to balance the squad up.

Hard to say on Walsh yet though, without him playing any footy, the club may have it right.

He has shown good game control and if you have a genuine ball playing six and an attacking number one he compliments them well, bit early after only two games at two different clubs to make a definitive call.

He could fill the void Reynolds played when he was at the Vermin, plenty to work at for Humphreys but plenty to like based on two games.

We all have our own opinion..
Humphries did nothing ..
Yep,he got a lot of supercoach points for doing all the kicking, but did **** all else.
Did not run it,nothing special at all...
Still ran the ball 8 times (about average for an NRL half) and made 30/30 tackles, I swear people just see what they want to see?

Yes he didn’t score any tries and only had one try assist which ironically meant his SuperCoach score actually wasn’t that high, but there’s nothing wrong with a solid controlled game in the wet with both teams missing players. I’ve seen our halfback with 300+ games experience blow games in similar conditions but now this kid’s getting knocked for being ‘nothing special’ after a grand total of 2 NRL games.

At the very very least, we should have kept him to play 9 or 14 with the view of moving to 7 once DCE retired. Even if you don’t think he could’ve replaced DCE, how hard could it have been to give him a spot over Croker/Simpkin/GCKT etc?

I wish Humphries all the best, but i still haven't lost a wink of sleep over him leaving.

Seems to be a general theme of talking up those that have left but bagging the crap out of the existing players.

To be honest Jake Arthur would probably look ok if he went elsewhere and got a starting gig - and he gets called all sorts of names on here.

There’s middle ground…he had a strong game last night and controlled things nicely. He’s no star but that’s OK…looks a solid first grader. Does that mean we should have pushed DCE towards retirement? Hell no! A world can exist where we wish Humphries all the best, praise him, but still be comfortable with the decision Manly made to go in another direction.

I think you’re spot on there, he is a game controlling type player with a good kicking game that can put his team in good field position, ideally you need a ball playing six and an attacking one to compliment his game where it is at the moment.

He has potential to develop other areas of his game still, taking on the line, though last night he didn’t threaten to break the line when he ran.

NRL 2025 going to have a lot of blowout scores.
Fix this NRL. Get rid of the six again.
It was a smart change to replace full penalties.
But the refs are giving six agains where before they never gave a penalty at all.
And they are very inconsistent in games and in different games.
Way too sensible a suggestion for the NRL my friend. It's almost becoming "unlimited tackle" rules in the twenty metre zone at times. For some teams and at various stages of matches that is!
