Aaron Woods ???

Looks like he's coming. 1 year with a 1 year option in clubs favour. Wait for it... 300k
With Boyle, Siro, Gosiewski and Saddler likely leaving this is a decent signing in my opinion.
Now with Funa, Suli and Taufua on the move its time to sign a strike outside back/ centre with an ability to cover fullback.

sez who? You guys and yer inside knowledge!

I thought Zac was worth another go? Are we still getting the bronco guy Bullemore?

Here's some more question marks - > ?????

Unpopular opinion on here but I'm yet to see anything from Saddler that has greatly impressed me.

Not sure on 300k for Woods.....hope that is over 2 years haha
I'm more keen to see Tiutavake & S. Fainu develop and reckon there is more upside with them than Saddler. As long as those 2 are in the 30, I am content.

I think $300k for one year is a decent gamble for Woods - at that price, he won't be the reason we perform poorly but he might be the reason we get more out of the younger crew.

The guy has only played a couple of NRL matches and then suffered a serious head injury. No wonder you haven't seen him.
He was good enough to represent the Indigenous team and I've seen him rip'n'tear at lower levels.
Unless his injury has taken its toll, or he is not showing a willingness to work -- do we actually know he is in Queensland with the team? -- then he is worth retaining. He is as big as Tent and has a lot more mongrel.

I've seen a fair whack of him in the lower grades plus obviously all starts in firsts.

Certainly not saying he is a bad player, certainly not saying he should be dumped. Simply IMO I still see him as a flip of the coin job in really establishing himself as a first grader.

I do see more upside personally on Tuitavake.

That said forwards often develop later so he still has time.

Happy for him to stay but won't really be upset if he goes

I seem to remember reading similar thoughts when Gutherson, The Hyphenator and Hynes were deemed not up to our standards. Surely, if he is keen to stay, you'd give him at least another season to show his wares? Physically he has what it takes to be our enforcer.

Perhaps, personally I wanted to keep Gutho over bringing in Walker and didnt understand why we ley Hynes go.

Not sure who the Hyphenator is?

People also had similiar thoughts on Will Pearsell, Hught Pratt, Addison Demetriou, Jaiden Tarrant, Tom Amone etc etc.

All good, just a difference of opinion on a player, you seem to have a lot of faith whilst I'm still pretty unsure.

I'd much prefer you to be right!

Woods would add just value with his experience alone. I wonder if Woods will be in the 17 each week or will it be a depth signing?

Saddler is promising, but a fractured skull is pretty serious.

If we put it into perspective that we are turning boyle and jetski into bullemore and woods, that is some pretty good business. But if bringing woods is forcing out marty, that is very frustrating.

Last thing we need right now is another middle forward. Spend it on a backup fullback or another edge backrower like Garner please!

I doubted the Lawton signing (mainly due to his injuries) so ill just trust Des.

However, i can see the plus sides to it. He will be better in a better team. His stats are pretty much on par with some of our forwards and higher than our depth forwards. Hes replacing Boyle etc. Its an upgrade and adds experience and better depth to our forward pack.

Plus hes a manly supporter.

Hes got my support.

I get it @Remy but what if Des is bringing in Bullemore predominantly as an edge backrower/lock? Yes he can also play middle but he could also play a Kikau role for us off the bench, or start on the left edge with Schuster on the bench. What if Des decides to use Jake exclusively in the prop rotation? He could start Bullemore as lock and bring Walker in after 20. Schuster could also start as lock. The reality is that Jake is already spending 75% of his game in the prop rotation right now. All of this is hypothetical but our pack will definitely look different next season. I think that Woods will be in the seventeen from time to time, but he won't make our best seventeen.

8. Keppie
9. Croker
10. Jake
11. Ola'katu
12. Schuster
13. Bullemore

14. Walker
15. Lawton
16. Aloiai
17. Paseka

18. Sipley
19. Woods
20. Koula
21. Tuipilota

Yes this assumes that we lose Taupau. I think he goes to the Broncos. I am not saying that I am happy about it. I have always said I hope he stays.

For 2022, Taupau should stay and play out his last year with us. Jake should stay at the lock, and Bullemore can be a bench backrower or even start for Schuster to come on as you said. Jake is part of the prop rotation now whether we like it or not, because it's the only way that suits Dylan to come on, and he is a strike player we need to keep as a 14.

But for 2023, when Schuster makes his eventual shift into the 6 jumper, I think an edge back row combination of Bullemore and Smole starting is going to tear up teams. That mix of speed, power, and aggression is going to make us a very scary team. Bullemore can become a real X factor player, and he needs next year to slowly develop into our playing style before taking that full time role in 2023 when Schuster makes it vacant for him.

Woods does not make our best 17 at all. But something tells me Des is not going to go out his way to buy woods just as a Blacktown workers captain. Which frightens me. I also get Woods may be a roadblock for the likes of Sione Fainu and Tuitavake getting a chance, but to be fair, we also thought Foz was a roadblock for Schuster, so I think Des will do the right thing in adopting Woods as a leader for the young big boys hopefully without playing him in our strongest 17.

It is possible that we could regret letting Tenterfield go. At the start of the year I saw someone predicting he would be rookie of the year. He is so young worth developing.
I think Saddler and S Fainu will both be in the squad for 2022.
With the addition of Woods for 2022 our props in the thirty could be:
Paseka
Keppie
Aloiai
Sipley
Woods
S Fainu
Z Saddler
A Tuitavake (Development Squad)

I can also see Jake going into the rotation as well.
