Davey 3 ( not much time on but all heart )

Aloai 2 ( at least tried )

Saab 1 ( made one error but otherwise a fair start )

The rest , **** em , give them minus points so none of them can win this year.

3. Davey (first run showed more intent than the rest of the team all game)
2. Saab (made an error but assume as Tommy was missing there was no talk in the backline - it was great to have a winger who can catch and has real pace)
1. Aloai/foran - can have half a point each for trying (unlike others in the team)

3 - Davey
2 - Saab
1 - Aloiai

Selecting a top 3 out of yesterday was a stretch really. Davey was OK, the Volvo other than some early timid tackling and one dropped ball was better than I thought he would be, and Aloiai gave a good account of himself when on the field. Can't say much for the other 14 out there though.

Not sure where you get Jake being our best yesterday. Sure his tackling was as usual, solid, but that's about all you can say. His handling sucked and as usual he gave away at least 3-4 six again's because he seems to take an age to get off players and doesn't get back to being square at marker. One positive is that with Foran out there and Walker at fullback, he wasn't at first receiver nearly half as much as usual and had to play more of a props hit up role rather than slowing down the ball play.

I said it in the game day thread, but a lot of the 6-agains for not being square at marker, in all games, come from the tackled player crawling forward / walking off the mark. Shts me no end.

I do get that. But Jake seems to take an age at times to get off the tackled player, and then most times he has his hands all over them when he does get up which just invites more 6 again calls.

I agree, but 2 of the times he did it yesterday I think he was trying to buy time for a defensive line that had been broken and on its heels.

Sometimes giving the penalty can be strategic, like a foul in basketball, but I think instead of holding on and getting a 6 again we should try and strip the ball so that play is actually stopped. Cynical, sure, but worth it in the right circumstances.

Without Jake's defence they would have poured through the middle and scored a heap more points.
