MANLY SECURE SOUTHS FORWARD
Manly have landed a key piece in the player market by securing South Sydney young prop Davvy Moale to a long-term deal which could create some salary cap space for the Rabbitohs to accommodate David Fifita.
It is understood that Moale has agreed to a three-year contract to join Manly from 2027. He becomes the first player to sign with a new club for the 2027 season. Moale has 12 months left on his South Sydney contract but the Rabbitohs granted him permission to explore the open market before the November 1 transfer window opens. South Sydney had only recently re-signed him to a one-year contract.
The clubs may discuss the potential of having Moale’s exit fast-tracked before the 2026 season given he has decided his long-term future is elsewhere.
South Sydney want Fifita to join the club from the Titans next season but do not have the salary cap space to sign the Queensland forward. Moale’s potential exit – given he is on a deal worth about $500,000 – may free up some cash needed to allow the Rabbitohs to move on Fifita.
South Sydney are also open to Lewis Dodd leaving the club early with Dodd linked to Super League club Catalans. The Rabbitohs have indicated they are reluctant to move Moale on unless they have a replacement.
If Dodd and Moale go that would certainly create enough room for the Rabbitohs to land Fifita immediately with the Titans open to letting the back-rower go under new coach Josh Hannay.
The Sea Eagles have minimal cap space for next season and have been desperately looking to strengthen their forward pack after Josh Aloiai was forced to retire because of a shoulder injury. Hooker Lachlan Croker (concussion) is also uncertain to play again.
Moale’s season was ended by a wrist injury. He is just 22 but has already played 70 top grade games including 16 this year.
Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles remain locked in talks to lockdown star fullback Tom Trbojevic to a long-term deal. Manly are confident that Trbojevic will recommit to a new three year contract.
