This looks about right. Sipley in for Lodge while he’s out injured and Waddell in for Brown if he doesn’t cut it.

I feel like this is Seibold’s angle too.

I get 29

My preferred Manly first XVII in 2024 would be as such:

FB - Tom Trbojevic
WG - Jason Saab
CE - Tolu Koula
CE - Reuben Garrick
WG - Jaxson Paulo
FE - Luke Brooks
HB - Daly Cherry-Evans (c)
PR - Taniela Paseka
HK - Lachlan Croker
PR - Jake Trbojevic
SR - Haumole Olakau'atu
SR - Ben Trbojevic
LK - Josh Schuster

Bench (from) - Gordon Chan Kum Tong, Nathan Brown, Ethan Bullemor, Josh Aloiai, Toff Sipley, Matt Lodge

IMO, of the bench (when fit) ... Gordon, Lodge and Brown should be certainties.

Ryan has Lodge out for 3/4 of the Season.

If his rehab goes well enough I'd expect Lodge back playing a game or two at Blacktown well before Origin starts. Its not like he only just did his ACL yesterday, he did it almost 4 months ago on the 3rd of August. And there is still another 3½ months until the season starts in Las Vegas.

ACL's aren't like they once were when players were often out for 12 months or so, which is what it would be if Lodge wasn't available for ¾ of the 2024 season. These days players are usually out for about 6 months at most provided they don't have any setbacks. Some even come back earlier. But I'd honestly expect Lodge back much earlier in the season, like about ¼ of the way through rather than ¾ of the way through it

Is their such a thing as grading when it comes to ACL injuries. If Lodge's injury is a low grade ACL, he could be back in 6mths, that would be early Feb possible return. Here's hoping...

Not being any sort of health professional, I'd have to look up. Though I suspect there probably is grading with such injuries. Hopefully Lodge is back early and stays healthy. I know a few Warriors fans who didn't want the club to let him go when they got to go home after the bulk of the pandemic was over.

A front row rotation of Paseka, Jake, Lodge, Sips, Aloiai and Bullemor could be very strong if they stay healthy and in form. I know some still expect Jake to play lock with Schuster in the 2nd row, but I honestly more see Shoe in the ball playing lock role where he can be on both sides of the attack rather than being stuck out on the left flank in the 2nd row.

Schuster being able to play both sides also takes pressure off of Turbo to constantly be chiming into the line. It would allow Tom to do more running and playing off instinct which I think is when he's at his most dangerous. It gives us more options in attack. My only question is Shoe's work rate in defence. Hopefully the stories of him training hard and building his fitness are true. But then, the same stories were doing the rounds in the 2022–23 pre-season too so only time will tell.

On Lodge, after the Roosters game Lodge walked out to the middle and chatted to his former teammates and never looked impeded or injured. Just going of this says to me, may be a low grade ACL injury. On Schuster, just having Tommy for those attacking plays and decoys will benefit the Scho's game immensely.

You are rating Shu's ability high for that to happen. I still have my doubts that he will feature much, after the first 3-4 rounds. IMO.

Would be great to have the X - Factor Vega in our backline. If he improved his fitness he would be the first back I’d pick.
Schu’s days are numbered and could be a big draw card at Blacktown.
We won’t win a comp with Garrick at Centre, wing at best or Blacktown.

I feel optimistic and a little excited for 2024 season. Our spine will dominate and having Brooks and Turbo firing will be great to watch. Turbo will be like a new international origin signing for us next year.
I’ve have long discussions with his specialist and assures me he will be injury free in 2024.
I’m smelling a possible top 4 if we remain fit and Helsy.

Sorry but Garrick to Blacktown? That’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard

Interesting opinions I guess...Vaega first picked and Garrick dropped eh? I'm also glad to hear that Tom's specialist has made assurances for an injury free 12 months

Alioa is going to have a big year.

He was injured last year and copped the negative perception from his rainbow jersey shenanigans, (and if we are, well I'm, honest with myself, my thinking - and not just virtue signalling to the rest of the herd, twenty years ago if you'd told me with no warning or foresight to wear a gay pride jersey, in a women in league round, well...) dropped a shocker and cost a game against Souths.

Now Seibs has sent him a message by leaking the super league link while he's still on contract that he needs to ship up. He was close Manly's best forward in 22.

He either brains them in 24 or he's straight out the back door.
