Another brissie test....another rain day (almost)

BAN THE BRISSIE TEST!!!!

^ used to rain all the time then as well! 😛

Unless something weird happen, NZ should win the 3rd test against eng.

Eng need another 640 runs (!) NZ need 8 wickets. 2 days to go.

Went as I expected tbh, that series win in India just papered over the cracks in the side.

The batsman can’t go big anymore, in the Top 6, only 2 guys have 100s this year. 4 of the top 6 are up over 25-30 innings since their last. They are poorly managed with none of them outside of Williamson playing the final round of first class cricket before the series. Mickey Mouse T20 cricket has killed Conways technique. There is absolutely bugger all young guys coming through as well so some lean years coming after Williamson retires

8 dropped catches is not how they used to field either, and they turned out to be vital. The keeper is terrible and can no longer score runs either

I enjoy watching England play cricket, weird having both their captain and coach as kiwis though
I was watching a Steve Smith interview and he said since the change or modernised kookaburra ball has a more pronounced Seam which the bowlers can do more with, more movement with the scrambled seam delivery than anytime throughout his career.

Said batting has been extremely challenging, no excuses for the poor batting but some insight as to why batsmen world wide have failed to score big.

Nice to see Williamson get into triple figures again.

Probably combined with all the T20 techniques that have overtaken players games as well. Root has continued to churn out runs and barely plays the white ball stuff so maybe there is something in that

Wish we played as many tests as Aussie and England do, imagine how many runs and tons Williamson would have if we did. After this match we don’t play tests again until mid next year in Zimbabwe, and have a total of 5 to play in 2025

Interesting stat I heard yesterday prior to the result of the 3rd test in Brisbane

50 test matches played this year, 48 results, 1 draw and 1 abandoned.

Weather around the world must be improving as teams teams also struggle to bat time. The England 2nd innings was disgraceful with 2 days to bat over here, no fight at all to try and stick around

O’Rourke is a bowler to watch, fingers crossed he stays fit. Very tall, moves the ball in the air and hit 153km in the final test and absolutely terrorised the batsmen putting plenty of bruises on them and putting at risk their ability to have more kids

Wishing Kiwi Tim Southee all the best in his retirement.

Great competitor who played the game 'correctly'.

O’Rourke looms to have it all in front of him, what happened with Kyle Jameson he looked like a super talent for you guys?

Injury ravaged, just returned low key yesterday for Canterbury A and sent down 4 overs. Had consecutive stress fractures in his back. The couple of years I played with him he had stress fractures in his ankles too. Fingers crossed he gets a good run of cricket infront of him now and hasn’t dropped in pace. Always good to tell people I used to follow him with the ball and bat a spot ahead of him to give some mirage I went ok haha

Probably the right call with McSweeney, terrible selection initially considering he isn’t an opener and Bumrah is in the opposition, but tough as well considering how the rest of them are performing as well

I think it's a mistake to persist with marsh. He is basically being selected as a batsman. Fine when green is in the team but the balance is off without him. It was exacerbated by hazelwood's injury but the problem was there anyway. You could see it in the second innings of the first test too. Any time the Indian batsmen get on top, our guys are going to be too tired to hit back.

Marsh hasn't batted any worse than other guys but for me he is the odd man and could make way for someone like Webster to help out the bowlers.

I agree it's tough on McSweeney but I'm happy with a strategy of giving more than one candidate a few tests and seeing what comes out of it. Hopefully, someone takes their chance and the others go back to domestic cricket with a better awareness of what's required at the top level. We are going to need more than one replacement in the next few years.

About 5 mins till it starts!

Aust opt to bat on a green pitch.

Welcome to test cricket Sam!

And what a debut!

Yes whiny Indian fans...yes... give us your tears....cry little babies...cry!!!!

India win the toss, choose to bat and are 3-57 at Lunch with close call going Kohli's way which would've been an awesome catch.

A flick from Smith to Marnus.
