Former Canberra Raiders star Mark McLinden was arrested by NSW Police after invading the pitch during Sunday’s NRL grand final between Parramatta and Penrith.

McLinden jumped the fence and onto the playing field at Accor Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park during the second half. He wore a yellow shirt with the words “End coal, gas & oil” on the front. “For our kids” was written on the back.

McLinden, wearing football boots for grip, ran to the southern end of the ground and ripped off the Telstra advertising from a pad on the goal post.

He then stepped past several security guards and tried to rip the other Telstra sign from the adjacent pad.

In an attempt to avoid security guards, McLinden ran towards the other end of the field where Parramatta were attacking Penrith’s goal line.

He got 20m downfield before he was tackled by a guard, who escorted him from the field.
He always had a fair running game

North Queensland's Luciano Leilua will not play in the Rugby League World Cup after the Samoa second-rower was stood down under the NRL's no-fault stand-down policy.

At least the Mole described him correctly. Ch7 described him as ‘a rising nrl star’ LOL

Disgraced former NRL player Jamil Hopoate was paid $7000 to act as a courier as part of a conspiracy to smuggle over $100m worth of drugs into Australia, a court has heard.

The son of rugby league bad boy John Hopoate on Tuesday appeared before a sentence hearing inside Sydney’s Downing District Court after he was caught in a police sting.

Hopoate was arrested in May 2021 after he climbed inside a truck linked to a massive cocaine haul - estimated by police to have a street value of $154m - at Port Botany in May 2021 before leading police on a brief chase.

About a month old but possibly a welcome distraction for some..?

Former Gold Coast Titans player and coach Michael Gordon has avoided a conviction after being found guilty of two drug supply charges.

The 38-year-old was arrested at his Casuarina home in November 2020 as part of a sting targeting cocaine and MDMA supply across the NSW and Queensland border.

Gordon, who played 261 NRL matches for five clubs before retiring at the end of 2019, was charged with two counts of supplying a prohibited drug and two counts of possessing a prohibited drug.

He pleaded guilty to the drug possession charges and they were dismissed when he appeared in Tweed Head Local Court on Thursday.

He pleaded not guilty to the supply charges, but after magistrate Geoff Dunlevy found the charges proven he imposed conditional release orders of one and two years respectively.

He's got a history of cheap shots but that's a new low even for him.

I seem to recall he was the first player in the game’s history to make 100 FG appearances from the interchange bench.

Very much a ‘mixed bag’ of a career.

Today we're going to learn about the number 18.
18 years ago, Melbourne Storm veteran Danny Williams is suspended for 18 weeks for a King hit on Wests Tigers Mark O'Neill.
Today Danny has received an 18 month community corrections order for smashing a glass over a woman's head on October 1st.
Danny's also has an IQ of 18
Don't be like Danny

What a joke, 18 month community service. I bet he went straight to the newsagents and bought a lotto ticket

Looking at Woodsies post, he was only charged with Assault occasioning, not with wounding, which is twice as serious. Maybe through some sheer luck the victim wasn't wounded but only got minor scratches or something?
(and I'd agree about the lotto ticket, except I'm a bit down on gambling right now) :)
