2020 Finals discussion thread

As much as it pains me to say it but the rightful team won, thankfully, and lol@Parra

Yeah they have Nico Hynes. Ex Manly player. Fuked recruitment is our problem. We let Ramien go and sign Garrick, Suli.
While I agree re Hynes, Ramien is a egotistical dud. Gutho another good example but other than that we haven't been as bad as some other clubs. We've not had that many good ones leave of late. Liam Knight is a contender though.

Unpopular opinion but I don't think Storm can win the comp. Maybe they'll make the GF, but even that I doubt. As seen last season against Chooks in PF they don't have anywhere near as many gears and their defence this season, mainly due to six-again is really opening up. While they can still grind out and dominate bottom 10 teams, they have looked to have a lower roof against top teams and can't get the same amount of control anymore. They have speed but I think they don't have enough gears in other areas and don't have good enough defence.

They beat chooks this year but chooks very understrength and only won by 1 point and I think that in that game they gave their all.

And Luke...

Firstly, Munster in or out has little bearing on things. Bellamy-coached Storm are about systems and consistency... what you see is pretty much what you get all the way through. It will pivot on another team having a great day and I believe ALL other teams have plenty of gears to go through. It’s just a question of if they hit those gears on the day.

I can't agree. The Storm blew 4-5 try scoring chances tonight, but when the use their outside backs they are magic. Ado-Carr and Papyhauyzen are great to watch, and Olam is a beast.
I feel melancholy watching their backline and comparing it to Manly's efforts this season. We are so far off the pace that I fear we'll be cannon fodder again next year for the better quality teams.
I think it will be The 'Riff V Melbourne in the GF, which should make for great attacking football.

Why would we have let Nico Hynes go. Yet keep Parker. Another fuked decision.
He’s bog average at best. He may have certain qualities and an attitude that suits Bellamy’s system. Take him out and place him in another team and he would stink it up big time.

I think the Raiders, if they can get past the cheats next week , have the drizzle's measure.

Yeah their backline is so much better than ours. I think (and hope) the Storm lack one or even two gears vs Riff, Roosters, Raiders. If a good team limits their linebreaks they'll struggle . 4-3 linebreaks vs Rabbits mid-season (won by 4 points), 3-3 vs Raiders (lost by 16 points), 2-2 vs Panthers (lost by 7). Both games vs Roosters the chooks were understrength (only clawed a win in one of them). I just haven't been convinced by them yet because of how short this season is and the lack of games they've had in last 2 months against good opposition.

At the end of the day i'm nitpicking at some stats here that might mean nothing. Im probably subconsciously hoping they die. Who knows, maybe I've just been thinking about their finals performances last year too much but I haven't been sold by them since that time (or many teams really). Strange season 2020. :nerd:

As for Eels, well I guess they lost 20-2 vs Riff (7 linebreaks to 0) and 38-0 against Souths (10 linebreaks to 0), so am not surprised storm could make as many breaks as they did. Their edges are so ****e in defence. Imo their last big win was against Raiders in rd 7.

They have only beaten two top 8 teams since rd 7, and one was against the depleted storm - the other against Knights. lol@parra straight sets hopefully :wasntme:
