LEEDS CIRCLE MANLY STAR

According to UK publication League Weekly, Leeds have offered Manly backrower Joel Thompson a multi-year deal.

Thompson, an NRL fan favourite for his community work, is off-contract at the end of the season and has previously expressed a desire to play overseas.

“I’m always open to anything. Rugby league has given me everything so whatever comes I’ll be happy with that,” Thompson said earlier this month.

“We’ve spoken as a family, we’d like the life experience of going over to a different country and getting paid for it would be pretty special.

The Sea Eagles are reportedly keen to keep him on, but a long-term deal with the Rhinos may see him jet off.

Kodi Nikorima’s career at the Broncos is over with the New Zealand Test halfback agreeing to a $1.5 million-plus deal with the Warriors.

News Corp Australia can reveal Nikorima has formally agreed to terms with the Warriors and is expected to turn out for the Kiwi club against the Dragons on Saturday week in Magic Round — ironically at his current home ground Suncorp Stadium.

Manly’s new pin-up boy Reuben Garrick has agreed to a new two-year deal with the Sea Eagles.

Rookie Garrick was the name on everyone’s lips after scoring all Manly’s points in the brave 18-10 win over the Bulldogs on Saturday night at Brookvale.

Garrick was the difference between the two teams, scoring three tries and adding three goals, including a couple of difficult kicks in the windy conditions.

The 21-year-old Dragons junior took a punt this season, leaving Wollongong to try his luck at Manly.

He signed only a one-year deal but coach Des Hasler took an immediate shine to the stocky winger.

He chose him in round one to make his NRL debut and he has been there ever since, scoring tries and kicking goals from all over the park.

WWOS has learned that Garrick actually agreed to terms BEFORE his landmark game against the Bulldogs.

Expect an announcement from Manly in coming days.

George Burgess on the outer!

Triple M's League insider Brent Read has revealed George Burgess might've cost himself a monster million-dollar deal.

Despite interest from Parramatta, for a mid-year switch, Burgess decided to stay with the Rabbitohs for the remainder on the year.

However, Burgess has since been told there is no contact on offer for him at the Rabbitohs beyond the 2019 season

Report: Lodge wants out of Broncos

Broncos prop Matt Lodge is expected to leave Brisbane in favour of a return to his hometown Sydney after this season, reports the Sydney Herald.

It is believed the 23-year old has an option in his contract for next year, but is homesick and desperate to move back to Sydney.

Lodge sat out the 2016 and 2017 seasons following his violent New York assault in 2015, before receiving a lifeline from the Broncos.

During season in 2018 and signed a two-year contract extension at the end of the year, despite reportedly considering a move.

The Broncos have struggled mightily so far in 2019, with Thursday’s comprehensive 38-6 loss to the Rabbitohs dropping them to 2-6, and 13th place on the ladder.

Stand by for a cleanout of big names at the under-performing Brisbane Broncos next season.

New coach Anthony Seibold is under massive pressure following the Broncos' 2-6 start to his tenure and realises he has to make the tough calls.

I'm hearing that that long-serving stars Darius Boyd, Alex Glenn and Andrew McCullough will all be tapped on the shoulder as the club moves to adjust its salary cap for 2020.

All three have struggled this season and have failed to provide leadership for the Broncos' many up-and-coming young stars.

The fact that all three are closely aligned to Seibold's arch enemy Wayne Bennett will be another black mark against their names.

Clubs are queuing up to sign Manly’s teenage sensation Josh Schuster for next season.

A back-rower who represented NSW under-16s two years ago, Schuster is rated the hottest junior in the game and at 18, will be on a full-time NRL contract next season.

Current Blues coach Brad Fittler coached Schuster in that under-16 team and has no doubt the youngster will be a sensation in coming years.

“He’s got all of the skills, the size and ability to read a game,” Fittler said.

“He’s a real nice kid and a good team bloke.”
